i got about 700 miles on my new build..
But anyway it started making a knocking noise after about 500 miles..

its not there at idle but it gets louder with rpms.
im pretty sure its rod knock but i have mixed answers with mechanics.

Now my question is, since i caught it early enough,
is it easy for me to just drop the pan and throw in new bearings?
i heard your suppose to rebuild everything and all that jazz but there arent any metal shavings really in my oil..

Any tips for me to know about replacing the rod bearings in motor?

ive never had that happen to me on any of my builds but do the rods and main baerings in and polish the crank ....note when u do all that let it brake in take it ez for 3000 miles plus do a oil change within the 1st week to get the metal fragmints out and u shuld be ok :aha:

i didnt go over 3000 rpms man..
like i didnt beat it. i drove casual. she had so much power that i could ride my buddys 420s ass up a hill under 3000 rpms ha..

idn but im getting reallll pissed..
is there any other noises that round like rod bearings?

Some people will mistake a bad crank pully for rod knock. Also sometimes a bad lifter can be mistaken for rod knock. Dont forget to check you exhaust gaskets. I have no idea how experienced you are so just keep in mind that if your basing your diagnosis off of videos you have seen on here then all of these things have turned out to b the source of similar noises, and they all sound ALMOST the same on crappy you tube quality videos.

oh and its very ez to spin a baering to so i would check everything on the out side first like he said.........and u can get crankwalk on a new build to so anything is possibel

The only way to tell for sure would be to drop the oil pan and look. I would definitely get a new rod/rods and get the crank polished and have a machinist measure and order exact fit bearing.

You might be better off looking for a used short block and putting that in, more labor but might be cheaper and less of a hassle in the long run. (seeing as you might just spin another bearing and have to repeat the process)

In my NT, I had an issue like this. It started knocking one day, and I could have sworn it was a spun bearing.. ended up being a damned lifter. >_> Toss in some lucas and run it for about 20 minutes... see if it goes away. If not, then you'll have eliminated one possible source.
