u should be able to do it on a 2g also, he raised the bins to trunk level...

Ok well I want to remove my back seats for weight reduction and so theres only room for 1 more ... i hate giveing rides all the time.

anyway the bad thing is if i do this it will look like ass... and i dont want that...

so anyone got any ideas, or has anyone done anything like this on here? What im thinking so far is just put down carpet.. but im not sure how that would look...

How much weight does it actually reduce? I've heard 7 lbs.
Personally I'd rather keep the seats. Its always fun stuffing 7 or 8 people in your car.

The seat backs of the rear seat is what weighs the most. The bottom of the seat is almost entirely foam. I'm not sure how much each item weighs though. Theres a faq on weight reduction. Some even list how much each item weighs. Another way to loose some weight in the rear seat area would be to ditch the speakers and all of their hardware. I've done this and its amazing how much all of it weighs (don't have official weight just impressions when I took them out). This could possibly offset the weight of the rear seat and you'll never know they're not there visually anyway. Later.

I gutted it all and then took off the plastic paneling and picked a spray paint that was by Rustoleum called "hammered" and it was a nice textured spray with a dark grey color. looks nice, carpeting would hide all the ribbings, bolts, etc. I am really considering having it Rhinolined (ex-4 wheel drive truck guy here) so it will be functional and durable. Pix soon...

Rhinolining would be crazy, my seat is out and I plan on making a mount for a Co2 bottle, fiberglassing it raised then have the bottle set in sidways, then having it painted red and taking the bottle to get powder coated.

Rhinolining would be intresting... I think i will just try to do a clean job with the original color of carpet.

But do you have any pics of the paint job w/ the Hammered paint? I would realy like to see that.

rhinolining is pretty heavy, if ur trying to reduce weight, i wouldn't go that route

rhinolining, is a spray in synthetic material that hardens and glues it's self to whatever you spray it on.. so then whatever you applied it to is safe and wont rust... but then you can't realy remove the stuff if you dont like it either...

Ripper- I'm spending the day cleaning my ride's exterior, interior, engine bay, and so on. I'll be taking pix too, so keep your eyes open.

As for rhinolining, you can have it done with varying thicknesses. So, technically, if you don't like it or change your mind, you wouldn't lose the integrity of mounting points for the backseats and belts etc...I dnn't know what it would cost but here is the site and links. If it is "cheap" and light in weight, I might consider doing it, but who knows...?
