i just finished replacing the head gasket on my car today topped it off with fluids and tried to start it but it wouldn't start, but right when you first turn the key it sounds like it is going to start but then it just cranks over almost like there is no spark. it seemed to me like every time i tried starting it it would get closer to starting, then fineally it started, but sounded like crap and had like no throttle response, i ran it for probably 5 minutes turned it off and my coolent was boiling. also now my gauges are all screwed up. like my temp gauge shoots all the way past the red when i turn the key (even before it fired up) and when the car was running all my lights on the gauges stayed on. so can you tell me why it wont really start and when it does why it runs like crap, and also about my gauges

wouldn't hurt to check everything over and make you have everthing hooked up right. all the wires and hoses and anything you disconnected/ reconnected. I would also make sure you timing is set right.

ya torqued it down to 80lb with arp studs and the molly lube. could this maybe be my cam position sensor? i still have to time it with a timing light. and by the way it starts every time now.
