So i changed the head gasket in my car, at the time i also had the head rebuilt, and valves done and put in a 16g turbo.. Well i finally got everything put back together and tried starting the car nothing...We where thinking the timeing could be off because everytime we crank it, it sounds like it wants to fire but wont.. A friend said maybe its 180out. But we set the basic timing to the haynes manuel...not sure how reliable that is but its only thing i got at the time.. My friend noticed this lil stem lookin thing on the intake manifold that doesnt have any hose connected to it, we tried looking around for another end maybe it plugged into but couldnt.. Ill get a pic of it tomorrow and a video of it trying to start maybe someone can help because it really wanna get this car running. But its getting fuel to it.. Before i changed the gasket the car ran. IM stuck..ive been tempted many times to sell it and at one point the car was on craigslist. Any ideas would help.

Sounds like a vacuum port on the manifold that you do not have plugged in. Sounds like a bad vacuum leak which is why it won't start.

Double check your plug wires. Make sure you have the firing order correct. It's an easy thing to cross up and so simple alot of people don't think to check it.

Double check your timing marks. Compression test wouldn't hurt. Plug wires should be 4123. #1 cylinder is closest to timing belt.

Here is a pic. of the lil stem that is on the intake manifold. Im not sure what its to nor what it does, im pretty sure a hose connects to it, but im not sure where the other end would go. I also took a video of the car trying to start, and about 6-7secs there is a noise where it sounds like a quick escape of air sounds kinda like a BOV. Maybe someone can help me with this any help is appreciated.

It looks like its for the PCV, you can either vent the Crank case to a catchcan or reconnect it, there should be a fitting on the top of the motor.

I loook at that PCV and it already has a hose on it to a larger stem on the intake manifold.

bro from the video it sounds like u have a compression problem. the rings are shot or you bent your valves. it sounded like your motor was turning over waaaaaaay to easy. do a compression check
