Replaced the Driver side front hub assembly, had to hammer the #$%$#@ out of it with a sledge due to it being fused together (after 180k miles, who knew? :) )..

But now it shakes like a maniac if I go over 65 mph.. I had an alignment done and it helped a little bit, and they told me my elcentric bolt in the rear driver side is broke (which I ordered a new one, but I have yet to put it in)..

Car is lowerered..

So my question is, did I screw something up when I put on the hub assembly? It's flat, and installed correctly as far as I can see) or is it this friggin bolt I need to put in screwing up my alignment?

It's really starting to annoy me!

Thanks!

A bad alignment will not cause a vibration issue. Make sure the wheels and the front end are tight. Taking a sledge to the front end could have broken something. If not, it's probably a tire balance issue. Balance your tires and rotate them.

I had the tires balanced and checked (first thing I did hehe)

I'll just have to take both front wheels off and check everything..

Do our axles have weights on them to balance them? Maybe it fell off.

You may have damaged a ball joint which would do exactly that. With tires on ground try to wiggle all wheels up/down and right/left with a lot of force. You should feel no play. Then lift front wheels off (use jack stands) and wiggle wheels again. Then get under and wiggle everything that has a ball joint on it (control arm, lateral arms, tie rod, etc) the same way hard as you can to check for movement or play. Do same for all other suspension parts. Now repeat on rear suspension.

Are you getting the shaking in the steering wheel? If so, your problem lies with the front suspension parts. If it's just the car shaking, and not in the steering wheel, then you have a problem in the rear suspension. This will help you narrow down where the problem is.

Hrmmm that does help a little bit..

I throughly checked both front wheels for play, and inspected everything.. And it all looked perfect. not a think out of place..

The only thing I keep getting back to is that the rear driver side Eccentric bolt (the one you adjust the rear aligment with) is broke (just the end that the nut goes onto)..

I got the replacement bolt but I couldn't get the old one out LOL. I'll have it replaced by a garage and hopefully that fixes it..

Thanks for all the help guys!

When you reinstalled your axle, did you torque it down properly. You said you had to hit it with a sledge, you might need to retighten the axle nut; the rust could have moved around some. Also it is possible that you bent your axle slightly by hitting it with a sledge hammer.

Ya I thought about that.. But I really have no idea how to check if the axel is bent.. LOL It LOOKS fine.

Arg, I can ###### fix anything, as long as I know what the #@$@# is wrong with it.. LOL

Anyone wanna sell me a late 2nd Gen AWD? :)

Check to make sure you didnt tear your axle boot. I would put money on it that it's one of your axles. It only vibrates at 65 and higher right? Sounds like what my gst did when one of the axles were shot. Oh and i have a 2g awd for sale too. LOL
