just as the title states. i replaced my CTS and is still hard to start,i replaced fuel pump/sock along with fuel filter under battery tray. car will start after about 30 seconds of key bumping, but will be hard to start also just after i turn it off. what could be causing this i have posted 2 other questions and still no reply's.this is my DD so fast rely' would be great ty

Have you tried spraying cold water on the fuel rail?

(The reason it starts after extended cranking, under my theory, is that you're using the gas in the tank to cool the rail.)

My N/T car did that... Ecu. Still ran, just hard to start every morning. After that she was usually fine unless she sits for a couple hours.

Throwed, Intake air temp, CTS, and CAM code I believe, swapped Ecu's and she was just fine. But then that one blowed up LOL... Back to the hard starts it is.

it almost sounds like the fuel pump is losing its prime. have you put a gauge on it to check it?

...which is the weakest link in a stock DSM pump .. is that check valve in the pump itself.

When they crack, you lose the prime and pressure in the rail. Thus, the pump is engaged when you start swinging the starter and it has to bring up fuel from the tank to the rail before it will catch - not just having the key in the "ON" position.

That is the only thing wrong with my Laser is that it has to crank a bit before it catches since the fuel has drained back into the tank from the rail due to a weak check valve in the pump.

Eventually, I know that I need to replace the pump due to that check valve, but for now, I'm not too worried about it - other priorities are in store right now before I shoot more money in the Laser.

My little 1.8 catches right up when I hit the key - knowing that the check valve is doing it's thing in keeping the rail pressurized..and you can feel the pressure remain in the line between filter and rail.

it wound up being the little rubber o ring in between the pump and the sending unit it was broken and was causeing the fuel to bleed off after i turned it off ty guys so much you helped me countles times
