Damn this car gives me more of a headache then most and ive hardly even modded it!

Anyways, im usually on here complaining about my car (95 TSi 5 speed).

This time im wondering you guys think I should replace it or just work with it. My friends arent really sure what I should do, so i'll consult the internet.

basically the body isnt in the shape id like it to be, and id rather have a 97-99 white gsx with every option available.

The talon has some marks on it that I doubt will buff out, the under carriage isnt so great (starting to rust and all caved in from jacks) and it has strut tower area rust on it. Also I wanted to do the 97 conversion originally but the turbo wing wont fit without bodywork, and if I buy a red hatch it will look funny since half of my talon one is black.

I would honestly be happiest if I could find a non rusted very good shape 97 white gsx shell with all the options on it. throw the 6 bolt in there and be on my merry way. finding such a thing is another story. I forgot how hard it is to find these things, especially a shell, and a 97, for not a hugely over price (as they usually are) Id be willing to pay what I got for the talon + some cash but I just cant find them. only ones are engines with 45k for $10k+ and theres no point there if im going to replace the engine.

On the other hand that is more money. I bought a crotch rocket so im not 100% rollin the cash anymore, after bills I only got about $900 a month to spend on whatever, but that gets ate up on gas, food, having a life, ect. If I kept the talon and worked my ass off on it I could make it into something decent at best that was fast, but I dont think id be as happy. I could do a conversion but its still a talon if I sell it, and it wont look right fully converted IMO.

So the obvious answer is, well if youll be happier with the gsx, get that. but the money is an issue, finding one, selling my talon...maybe getting a small loan, all come into play.

Should I either:

A) Keep the talon and procede as originally planned

B) Fix the best I can and sell the talon when it gets nice out, ride the bike/borrow a car untill I can actually find and complete a GSX, be happier this way but but make life hardier without my own car for who knows how long untill I find and complete (get the built 6 bolt in there) the car.

C) do the same thing as B but find and complete the gsx first, then sell the talon. Life will be easier this way but getting the money may not be.

Sorry if all my threads are the same crap like this I just need outside input before I possibly make the wrong decision. Id have to say im leaning at option B, but id have to check getting a loan for option C, but option A is still in my mind.

Thanks.

i know how you feel i siezed my engine withen the first 2 mounths of having it. ive just stuck with it and now i have a vacume leak i need to fix and still some other things that i cant figure out and i cant even explain to the people here to try and fix. and my machanic can't figure it out either. i really like my car though. i think that sence you have that bike you can ride around just stick with it you will feel alot better when you do it all yourself instead of just taking credit for another car that someone eles put there heart into. if you think about it eventually you will run out of things to fix and you can get all of those things out of the way now instead of buying another car and dealing with it all later if i was you id just go for it. whats the point of going threw the same headacs you are going through right now again? good luck hang in there

do you have the time and means to fix your car? How much do you project it to cost with the car that you have right now in repairs?

there is nothing more satisfying than fixing a car that is reliable and looks nice...there are a lot of things that you can do for cheap (time permitting) that can make your car nice.

Thanks for the replies.

I didnt plan on buying something else that someone already modded or anything. Ideally just a rolling chasis with no engine or trans. or maybe one with an insane amount of miles on it that has a great body on it (probly have to be a southern car)

My car I dunno, id fix it up enough to make it sellable, but the rust is just a big problem to me, I worry about it constantly and would rather not have to.

I want a fast car but I also want it to be a really nice, representable car.....and that my talon is not. and like I said I wanted to do a conversion because ive always hated how the talon looks, even when I bought it, but before I did not plan nor want to do a full conversion like I do now.

I kind of wish I waited longer in the beginning and saved some cash for a 97-99 gsx, but at the start I was probably a bit excited, the car was close by, and I was buying the car just to race it, I didnt really care how it looked (was going to strip out the interior cept the dash and maybe 2 racing seats, ect) but now I want full leather, sunroof, ect.

Only problem with buying another car is I know that if I dont, I can go buy some goodies for my talon right now LOL.

hope that may have cleared a few things, keep the opinions coming.

Didnt really answer this either....

I have a good means to fix most of the damage/things not working. In reality I could go and fix all the rust, or have my buddies dad do it, or have him help me do it......but it will be a huge PITA.

If I found a gsx chassis for a reasonable price it would probably be easier for me to spend the time I would fixing the talons rust, working making money instead to pay the difference for the GSX, besides the cost of the engine im going to get.

Maybe I should look for a really high milage car thats in good shape so I have a car just incase (only ride when raining) build a 6 bolt up then down it for the swap? although this way the car itself will be a few grand more. :(
