ottawa,
My tranny on my 1993 TSI is going and I was told that the 2G trannys are almost bullit proof where as the 1G trannys arent. is this true and is the tranny swap from a 1G to 2G tranny just bolt on. Thanks

who ever told you the bullet proof thing was drunk and high.

i cross my fingures everytime i launch(i already ripped the spider gears out of my center differential once)

the 2g transmissions have differant mounts, the motor would take it but the mounts would probly need modification. i know to put a 1g in a 2g is a pain.

i would rebuild your tranny or get a new 1g trans only complaint i have on the 1g tranny's is the miles and they shift a little rougher.

if you need someone to rebuild yours and you live close to nebraska i would do it. i have passed a class on transmissions as part of my automotive technology degree and i have been inside a few dsm trannys as is
