1g tranny internals in a 2g tranny

as the title says. i was wondering if you can put 1g internal parts i mean complete everything inside into a 2g maybe minus the speed sensor. reason for asking is i found a shep tranny for a killller price but its for a 1990 dsm and i have a 95 with a shot tranny replacing parts alone is going to be nere 1000$ so please dont say it stupid just a simple yes it could be done no it cant. tho my mechanic is a dsm head he's never thought of doing this him self so he doesnt know for sure.

I've done it. Swap everything but reuse your front diff (I say to do this just because I don't know if the axle stub sizes are different). Treat it as a case swap and it will work fine.

i though the diff would be the most similar since the new trannys can go into older dsm's but thanks alot for you input. would i need a 1990 tcase as well?
