I blew up my tranny a few weeks ago and I can't find a direct replacement for it in Ontario. So now I have to cobble up some used parts and put togeather something that works.

I know you can't swap a 1g tranny into a 2g one directly because the bell housings are different. What about JDM trannys? I read somewhere the EVO3 will drop in, but I can't find a post about it. I'm find these searches a little confusing right now. Can swap internals from a 1g into a 2g bell housing and be done with it?

you can swap the internals but depending on the year of the 1g tranny you have and the year of the 2g tranny you have you may have to do some simple modifications. As always you will have to shim the shafts (at the very least the input intermediate gear and the center diff). Let me know the years and I will let you know what needs to be done. :thumb:

Swapping 93 into a 98.

thats easy.

You will be using the front diff ring gear, front diff, and pinion in the trans that they came in do not swap these. The rest of the parts are interchangable; you can use any center diff, input shaft or intermediate shaft. You do not need to reshim the front diff or front pinion, you will however need to reshim the other three shafts (center diff, input shaft and intermediate shaft). If you swap a shaft, be sure to swap the races and shift fork for that respective shaft.

Good luck :thumb:
