so im bringing this bacc fromt he dead because i have my coolant overflow bottle ziptied to my lower radiator hose. i need a better colution to this. someone have any methods or suggestions?

In my last car I relocated it with an aftermarket canister to where the battery used to be since I relocated that as well. Looked very clean and worked well. I have also seen it relocated right next to the stock BCS on a 2g.

what i did when I installed my fmic is i mounted the bottle where the smic used to be. I just bolted the bracket into one of the holes that was used to bolt down the smic. Works pretty well, no problems

They selll the overflow tanks in AutoZone and Advanced Auto Parts... My buddy and I (Boosted97) have this mod... and its very clean and compact, and since its aftermarket, most people ask, "What's that?" of course we tell them... The prices vary, cause there are 3 different styles that we have and the other stores have... check em out sometime...

At our store (Checker Auto Parts) we have two sizes of aftermarket overflow bottle. Both are fairly rectangular, boxy in shape and include mounting brackets. I'm sure the smaller style could be mounted almost anywhere. If anyone would like pics, let me know.

I went to autozone and bought the universal one. It comes with that cheap bracket, so I just drilled the hole out a little bigger and put it on the nipple on top of the radiator. Put the radiator bracket on top of it and bolt it down. Done. 10min with drilling and attaching all the hoses etc. I'll try to get a pic of it up tomorrow

I'd love to see pictures of the aftermarket ones. I put mine where my stock sidemount was, which was a wight fit. Unfortunately it fell off and got ripped up pretty bad. I've been trying to figure out what to do since.

BTW, does anyone know what the wires on the bottom are for?

Wires on the bottom of what? I put my stocket in the sidemount location but it doesn't seem to be very secure for my taste.

I also relocated it to the sidemounts previous location and used the origanal bracket to mount it and it has worked very well. The mount is rock solid.

Look down at the bottom of the page, you'll see the 6 rules before the quick reply box.
Number 5 Links you to the new reputation recommendation page, and rules. Only mods and wisemen can leave them, they got rid of it for everyone else.

Oh, right on. Here I was reading the FAQ

I guess having regulars leaving positive and only mods leaving negative didn't work out so well.

Thanks for all the help!

The overflow tank's location isn't crucial. A bucket would work, other than the spillage problem. It's better if its height isn't too much off from what the cooling system's is, but the system's drawing from the bottom of the tank so even that isn't a huge concern.
You do want to make sure it has sufficient capacity to allow whatever expansion the system needs- just use the old tank, fill it to "MIN" and pour that into your new one. If it holds it all, and has a bit of space left over, you'll be fine.

I saw somewhere, a coolant resevior that went in the place of the stock smic. Its for those who have upgraded with a short route FMIC. I can't seem to find it again and i was wondering what site its off of.

If you are short on funds, you can use a 16oz plastic coke bottle instead. I have seen it done before and it works for a short-term fix.

ya i have my short term fix already in action LOL im kinda lookin to make it permanent. thanks though.

so i still need some opinions on where i can throw this overflow bottle. the stock sidemount location wont work for me because i made a cold air intake. id rather not relocate my battery to the trunk in order to get some room in the engine bay for the resovior. PICTURES will be greatly appreciated. No ghetto gatorade bottles please, i dont want to get half assed opinions, i need a permanent solution to this annoying matter. i will try to get a pic of my engine bay up so i can be directed in hte right direction.

Hey guys i dont like the OEM plastic Coolant overflow tank , it looks scary to me :). I found something nicer ? What do you think about it ? Should work with 2g , because its universal right?

Another thing that i found was , some awesome radiator hoses for 2g , that would make engine bay look alot nicer , but their expensive? Greddy hoses.... Here is another link

Guys let me know what you think , please vote

Happy 2007 !

i voted both, because when you do something do it right the first time. If you decide to do just one, i would get the hoses, you get looks and function. The canister is just looks.

Coolant overflow looks good. But for the hoses id look into the samco hoses. You can get them on ebay for about 75 bucks shipped. Much better on the wallet with same outcome.
