So i'm building new engine at upcoming winter, and asking your oppinnion on what parts should i use.

I have already purchased 6bolt 4g63 block and planning of stroking it to 2.3.
So when it's done it should be 2.3 turbo engine with atleast 300hp.
Dream would be that it has over 300hp and ~400Nm.

Block parts:
-Pistons ross or wiseco?
-eagle rods okay ?
-stock oil pump ?
-light weight underdrive pulleys ?

Head parts:
-What kinda camshafts ? stock turbo okay? or.. ?
-steel valves ?
-should i take my cylinder head to some machine shop to make it better ?
-stronger and stiffer valve springs ?
-adjustable cam gears? or stock ones ?

Intake parts:
-I think stock intake manifold will do ?
-ofcourse some better airfilter
-3" gm maf with translator ?

Exhaust:
-Ported stock manifold ? or some special ?
-What turbo would be best for achieving my goals, t3/t4 ? 16g ?
-3" piping all way to the end (high-flow cat or test tube ?)

Cooling:
-What kinda of intercooler would be best ?

Electrics:
-AEM plug-n-play engine control box okay ? any other plug and play boxes available ?
-electronic boost control ? what kind ?
-turbo timer what kind ?

Fuel:
-Stock fuel pump ?
-450cc or 550cc injectors ?

Drivetrain:
-ACT 2100 clutch and flywheel package (should be enough for 330 lb/ft)

Thanks for advance for your help, i think this is going to be kick ass project  :thumb: :dsm:

edit: corrected typo(not act 2000 but 2100)

This is a pretty funny thread, You are asking an internet website to choose your whole setup for you.

There is no such thing as an act2000

I think you need to search around and gather information before you make another post, This is ridiculous. You want to achieve 300hp and you have no idea on any parts you want. You want someone else to choose them for you. Everything!

300hp is easy to achieve, Just read the performance upgrades and you would see that.

 goodluck...

That's why this is called dsm newbie forum :)

i'm just asking for advice, ofcourse i have searched the net, but wanted oppinnion of the experts

Ofcourse i want someone else to help me choose parts cause i'm not sure what would work the best...

Aint these newbie forums just for that thing... to get help if needed.....

Let me first say that a 2.3 Buildup is in no way needed to make 300hp. 300 Flywheel hp is a joke on these cars with a stock 2.0l. You are probably way over your head with this but I will answer your questions seeing no one else prolly will.

Engine

- Either piston will be fine. You need a special stroker piston for the 2.3 so make sure you get that.
- Eagle makes a great rod
- An OEM oil pump will work
- The OEM pulleys are fine. Save your money

Heads

- HKS, Comp, Jun all make good camshafts depends who you ask as to which to get. What grind will depend on what you want. The stock shafts will work for your 300hp goal.
- The stock valves will again work for your goal. 1mm oversize with a valve angle job wouldnt hurt though.
- You could but for 300hp you dont need to
- This all depends on how wild you go with your cams.
- Some cams are known to be dialed in well without cam gears.. but it is always a good idea to get them for maximum gains.

Intake

- Stock manifold will work.. if anything get it extrude honed
- yes
- Or 2g mas either one will work

Exhaust

- A 2g or Evo exhaust mani will work for what you need.
- For 300hp on a 2.3 you could use pretty much anything. Something bigger would be better. Everyone loves the old 50trim for a reason. Could go real big with a 2.3 though.
- 3inch all the way. Cat or not depends on what state your in and how strict the emissions testing is.

Cooling

- There are many options here.. do a search

Electronics

- There are many options depends on how much you want to spend. AEM EMS being prolly the best way. With a Datalogger and AFC being the cheapest way.
- Electronic control is not needed. Do yourself a favor and buy a cheap MBC it does the job.
- Pick one almost all of them work

Fuel

- Id get a atleast a Walbro 190lph
- 550s will work for 300hp prolly will find you want bigger later though

Drivetrain

- Act 2600 will work better
- I didnt look to see if your were a AWD or FWD. If your AWD Id recommend to have money set aside in the break stuff fund. 2.3s make tourque.
- If your a FWD get a LSD and still have money set aside for the break stuff fund.

There are some things your missing here but you should read and figure things out. In the end your swatting a fly with a baseball bat. You can make tons of power with the 2.0l but if a 2.3 stroker is what your after have fun and be prepared to drop alot of cash on all this stuff that frankly you dont need. If I had the money to do this project id be in the tens .

thanks for the answer!

torque is what i'm trying to get with this setup.
my ride is currently n/a fwd.

btw. should i even need any maf if i have aftermarket ecu like that AEM ems ?

you have a lot of reading and learning to do. Ask yourself this question, and think long and hard about it. What do you want out of the car? A drag strip champion? A highway monster? A drag strip queen? A reliable fun car? 300whp? 400whp?

Dont get in over your head with an expensive rebuild if all you TRULY want is 300whp. A stock block plus basic mods(16g, fuel and tuning) will hit that without breaking a sweat.

300whp wasnt enough for me. Thats just me though. Figure out what you need and want and build the car for your goals.

well it's fwd so dragstrip champion it is never going to be
I want it to be reliable/fun/powerfull street car.
Which i will be racing 1/4 mile just for fun sometimes.

As low budjet as it can be to build it with new parts, i don't want to use used and old parts cause i want it to be reliable.

Just want to have cool build project and enjoy of the result next summer :thumb:
