Reasonable price for timing belt, water pump change?

I spent today getting the new car (1999 GSX) resitered, plates, inspected and titled. Since the person I purchased it from wasn't sure if any of the major maintenece was ever done(Timing Belt etc...) I decided to stop by PepBoys and get a quote on the install of a timing belt and the list of parts that get changed with it.

PepBoys quoted $532.00, this included the Timing Belt, Pulley, Water pump, tensioner, and a couple other belts and pulleys.

Then I went to another "Local" shop and they quted me $750.00 for the same parts.

what do you guys think? So you trust Pepboys?

yes trust them, that local shop is way overpriced and so is pepboys

Just pick up a manual and do it yourself.

Trust yourself. I had to the first time i tackled the t-belt/w-pump job and you'll learn more about your car.

#### The PepBoys techs. I work at Pepboys as a parts guy, and most of the techs at my store are idiots. Im not saying that all the techs are idiots but a good amount are. if they do it try to get the senior tech to do for you or yore probobly better of doing it yourself.

Dont go to Pepboys, you're better off doing yourself. You'll be sorry if you go to Pepboys.
