rear o2sensor removal

How do you get this thing off the pipe holy shit the whole pipe is turning when I try to pull this out I lubed it up and everything I'm using a crescent wrench what am I doing wrong! haha help ###

O2 sensor sockets help out tremendously. If you have a new O2 sensor going in, then just cut the wires off and use a deep well socket and a breaker or an impact if you have pnematic tools.

Heat also works quite well.. Last time I took one out, I used a torch on it for about 2 minutes. Came out with a little coaxing.. If you are going to keep your O2, I would advise extreme caution.

I'm a car newb how much would a new one be? should I even get a new one? chances are the exhaust I'm going to get for this isn't going to have a converter.. if it doesn't should I get one or no? Is there a way to eliminate it? is it easy to put a new one in? Help?

On your new aftermarket exhaust, it might not have an o2 bung. The bung is what the o2 sensor screws into. You can buy just the bung from Slowboy or other similar place. Then drill a hole and weld the bung in.

A new o2 sensor will probably run like $60

Where does the o2 sensor wire run to? I notice when I'm looking under the car it goes right up into the car where does the wire run all the way to?

just alittle curious...does your state have a inspection? we don't here in Arkansas which is how I get away with not having a cat. Of course, I know that ppl keep one handy when it comes time to have inspection in other states, but what are your plans in this regard? Personally I would go with purchasing a new O2 sensor, not all that expensive and they do wear out anyways.

Yeah we do I'll make sure to have a converter handy.. as far as the o2 sensor wire where does the wire run to? I see it going into the car have no idea where it goes though! pics would be great.. thanks!

If you very carefully tug on the wire, you will see a black connector just inside that hole in the bottom of the car.. Just unplug your broken O2 sensor from that plug, and thats it... If you unplug it and lose the connector back into the hole, I belive that you can get at it under the drivers seat carpeting. I have fortunately never had to do that however.

visit www.vfaq.com and follow your way into the exhaust section where they have an article on how to eliminate the rear o2 sensor completey, and still bypass the CEL stating that the catalytic converter is malfunctioning. All it takes is a little soldering. As for where the wire goes, the vfaq article says that it comes up through the floor under the drivers seat.

The connector unplugs beneath the seat under the carpet. if you still haven't get it off, soak it with PB Blaster (NOT WD-40!) for a few hours then muscle it off there with an O2 sensor socket on a breaker bar. good luck

Get the Denso 'Downstream sensor, after catalyst' one. Best price I've found anywhere, & they have the front one for 50 bucks.
