I was just wondering what the difference was between a manual tranny rear end and auto tranny rear end, will my automatic rear end work when doing my 5spd conversion?

Yes..... im doing a 5 speed swap in my 91 gsx can i use my auto rear for tyhe time being

Simple answer, no.


Complex answer, sure if you buy a new pinion and ring gear to match the fronts ratio then shim them to tolerence.

DIffrent gear rations. You can check vfaq to see exactly what the ratios are but for the most part you shouldn't use a auto rear end on a 5spd setup.

I thought the ratios were diff but now i need to find a rear for my car... i want 4 bolt
