Fix one thing, break another?! Replaced my alternator and when I started the car noticed that the rear defrost button was lit up. Doubt if it is related to the alternator replacement, just a coincidence. It will not shut off. Ended up unplugging the contacts at the rear window. I am guessing it is a stuck relay. The switch seems fine, but haven't tested it as I cant figure out how to remove it! Is the timer function also part of the relay? Any other ideas?

use a voltmeter and check the connections at the rear window if theres voltage there after you shut the car off you got a problem. remove the rear defrost switch and replace it dsm switches always seem to fail like my fog light switch, and the a/c switch

i have the same problem.it stays on and kills the battery.how do i fix the switch?

You just carefully pop the center bezel out. The vents do not come with the bezel, those will stay with the dash. Unplug the switches when you get the bezel pulled out a bit. Unscrew the switch from the bezel and replace. It should only take 10 minutes.
