real doggy untill boost hits

After the 16g swap, my car seems real boggy untill the the turbo spools up around 3200 rpm. Idk i bought this car with a busted trans and havent drove it untill today, so i have no comparison. I have a small boost leak at the tb, which needs a new gasket tommorow, and oring for the biss screw, but other than that no leaks at all.

Get your leaks fixed and do a compression just to rule that out. Also, how fresh are your plugs?

This can be a result of the lower backpressure with the larger turbine housing. If you added an exhaust system at the same time as you added the 16G turbo you'll notice a loss in low-end torque because of the reduced backpressure.

leaks are fixed and it seems ok to me, but as i said i have never drove one before, but dang when the 15 psi hits WOW.

Until boost comes on you're driving a 3000+ pound car with a puny low compression four cylinder engine. It will feel doggy at low RPM to anyone accustomed to driving a V8.

That feeling bugged this old V8 guy for years on two AWD Talons until the 98 was stroked and fitted with a high stall TC. No more dogginess.

Try checking your timing

This.

Ground the 2Ga timing adjust connector and use a timing light on the crank damper to verify that your base ignition timing is at 5 degrees BTDC.

well i think i found my problem. I fixed my tb boost leak which was pretty bad, and i decided to check the intake gasket one more time, and low and behold, theres 2 bolts missing on it! This goes along with the other bolts that were missing! There is a huge leak on it too as it felt like a fan, i am amazed at how this car even pushed 15psi! Hopefully just tightening the bolts and replacing the missing one will cure it.
