57 trim hits water pipe

You will need to get a non turbo water pipe. At the junk yard or ebay.com. Then u will be ok. No need to dent the water pipe. :D

if your going to dent your pipe, then i suggest using something w/ a curve already in it, this way you will get a nice, free flowing, good looking dent rather then just a hammered on water pipe. Also how come a NT water pipe doesn't need the dent? I thought the only gains w/ a NT water pipe w/ a oil only turbo were just that you dont have the extra coolant return line. Are they different sizes?

I have the SBR manifold, and it works awesome. I am selling my setup though and going with the Turbonetics T4 cast manifold, it is huge.

just get on top of the engine bay with a sledgehammer and go to town.

though if i remember it doesnt take much to dent it, just short easy bangs, and the wider the hammer end the better, as it allows for a rounder dent thats less prone to cracking. though it can still happen.

This whole denting the water pipe thing is ok with the medium sized turbo's. But once you go really big the dent is more of a crushed water pipe. I was going to dent mine and once I moked up the turbo on the engine w/o the water pipe I realized it would only be 1/4 of it's original size. So I cut it about 1/3 way from the water pump and used a straight radiator hose to bring it over the cover of the HX-35. Then I cut the end off the water pipe and attached it to the hose so I still have my heater and FAIV pipe. It doesn't look the cleanest but it's very functional. Plus I don't have to worry about overheating due to not enough water flow throgh the motor. I'll be putting up some pics here soon of everything.

You can try getting a slowboy racing manifold. its flanged out farther so you dont have to dent! and its also the best flowing cast manifold you can buy for the dsm.

Have you seen proven numbers that it flows more than the EVOIII or 2G manifold or is this everyone's assumption because it is larger?

Here it is Folks! The new SBR cast manifold. This manifold has the same external dimensions as the evo, but inside is where we really shine. The runners are larger, the collector is bigger, and it just plain flows more. We cast these with a slightly thicker flange as well to space out for you guys running our turbos with the larger compressor covers.
All manifolds come with 7cm gasket port matched to the collector of the manifold, and pre tapped for an EGT probe (comes plugged in case you are not running the gauge yet)

Okay. Thanks. Slowboys says it flow more so it must flow more. I'm talking about flow-bench tested & dyno results not the it just plain flows morepimping that the vendor includes in their description.

just stick the SBR and a stock one side by side, and you will realize it doesnt take a flowbench to see which will flow more.

Wow, anytime a Vendor in any business says its the best, they wouldnt be lying to sell a product. Also, I have a ported 2g manifold, sitting next to the Sbr, the Sbr looks to have a tiny collector. :rocks:

the sbr manifold has a 7cm collector vs the 6cm stock 2g

ps, this is getting way off topic.
