I have the pte bb 57trim and impressions are i love the turbo. Flowing around 40lbs/min at 20psi but my fmic isn't cooling enough so i had to end up ordering a bigger core since mine was too small. I have everything done to the motor except extreme porting to the head. Anyway am getting 20-22psi by 4,000rpms in 3rd gear starting out from 2,500rpms. On the highway in 5th gear i get 22psi by 3800rpms. Once the turbo spools it takes off like a rocket. Top end is where this turbo is at. The turbo spools early but you don't get the kick back in your seat until around 4200-4500rpms. You can do with 650cc injectors however am already at 84% injector duty cycle at 20psi so you might want to consider 750cc or 850cc. Since i have dsmlink i'll just be going to 950cc injectors since they are the same price as 850cc. I tried to dyno the car but it was being very incooperative with me. Seemed like the car didn't like the dyno at all since it was knocking heavily on pump gas. We say 320whp@20psi with only 7 degrees of timing at 7,000rpm just to give you an idea. We played with the adjustable cam gears and we got 340whp@21psi with only 8 degrees of timing and a airfuel of 10.3:1. We spent an entire night figuring out why it was knocking and in the end it was decided the intercooler was holding us back. Hopefully next week i'll hit the dyno again with the new race fmic and expect good numbers

awesome that was exactly what i was looking for! In the end i'm looking for around 400whp w/ good spool characteristics and driveability. When you get her on the dyno post back and let me know how that goes! :thumb:

I was just wondering if you think an internal gate would be good for this turbo or should i option for the external gate and be done with it? I'm going with a water injection kit also so hopefully i can turn the boost up past 22 and see some sick numbers! I'm also going with 880's, magnus smim, dnp tubular and rnr 3" exhaust (which is why i ask if i should go with an ext. off the o2 housing)

Raven X - any updates?

Yes go with either the Tial 38mm or the 40mm external gate and be done with it. I had a internal gate on the 50trim and i hated it so i ended up going with a external and ive loved it since. Everything else looks fine. As for updates well i got the new fmic on but i haven't been able to do any pulls and log because we just had the Rolex 24 hours here at Daytona and there were cops everywhere all day and night so i didn't want to get arrested LOL. Sometime this week i'll post back here with an update.

This local chick that drives a 1991 TSI FWD has a pte 57 trim and her car isnt half as fast as i would think it would be, i keep up with her and im on my stock turbo. But i think her car isnt tuned very well.. She dynoed 480 whp with it.

She layed down 480 whp & you can keep up to her with the 14b WTF , something's not right there.

RavenX how do you like this turbo on your fwd? I was thinking one of these PTE BB units, either the 50 or 57 trim would be my next upgrade from the evoIII. Do you have any lb/min readings, if so what was your boost set at?

The turbo is nice i like it alot. Ive had alot of turbos from the evoIII, vtrim, 50trim and now the bb 57trim. If you are planning on upgrading then get nothing more than these new bb units as they are worth every penny. As for traction well with good tires i only chirp in second gear but thats only because am not making enough hp yet however on cold nights forget it i spin all of second. As for how much am flowing since i still have the 1g intake manifold am flowing 40lbs/min@20psi once i get that smim that will go up. Both the 50trim and 57trim and very much alike spec wise but the 57 is geared more for the top end while the 50 gives you great midrange. If you get the bb 50 expect a spool around 34-3500 and the 57 will spool 21psi by 3800-4000. You can't go wrong with neither of them. I was going to go with the bb 50 but they were all on backorder and slowboy only had one 57 left so i took it and so far i love it.

Yup, like i said i think the tuning on that car sucks, either that or her car just has some problems....(Im just stating my experience with this turbo, im not downing this turbo or saying its bad, it just depends on what your set-up is.)

The part that I was commenting on is not that her car isn't preforming because if she made 480 whp on a 57 trim, those aren't bad numbers at all. The part that is strange is that you say you can keep up with her. If your profile is up to date, with your limited mods (ie no fuel upgrades) I would doubt your making 300 whp. Somethings not right when one persons car is supposed to make 480 whp and a car that makes about 200 less whp can keep up WTF maybe her legs are short and she can only press the gas half way done ROFL

Not everyday you hear a girl with a big turbo making that kind of power :thumb: I was talking with jon and you're right...all of the PTE BB line is backordered and prices are said to go up!....so i opted for the good ol' 60 trim. Yea a little worse spool but the top end is something to be admired. I'm also going with dnp ex manifold, 38 mm ext wastegate off o2 housing, magnus, and 3" rnr exhaust so that should help with the spool up! Water injection and 2.4L is also in the works for the future. Should put down some sick numbers. Thanks for all the replys i wish it wasn't backordered

Yeah i originally wanted the bb 60trim and they didn't have it so i just got the last bb 57 from slowboy so i was lucky.

It must be her legs, LOL. I was pretty imressed when she told me her mods, and showed me her engine bay. But i wasnt so Impressed when we got on the highway.......

That is strange, I could see you keeping up from a stop as your awd and maybe with her making that kind of power in a fwd she was spinning the whole time or doesn't know how to lanch properly. But on the highway, if she is making that kind of power in a fwd it should be a monster, even with similar mods on the highway the fwd should pull because of the weight & drivetrain advantages. Maybe something has gone seriously wrong since the dyno time?

Guys, obviously something is very wrong with his statements so don't spend so much time trying to figure it out. Sounds like she told him she dyno'd 480hp but completely made that number up since his 14B was keeping up. Either that or she can't drive or he is pulling numbers out of his ass. It's one of those and nothing else. Suprised everytime someone posts something completely retarded how hard people try to get to the bottom of it. If the numbers don't add up then you can't do the math.

About the turbo: I ran the 57 trim, non-ball bearing for awhile and I put down 344whp on 100 octane, 264 cams, dejontool super-sidemount and 25psi. I was seeing 20psi at 3800rpms. It's really a good, solid turbo that can power you to 400whp with the correct mods and even higher. I was tuning with an AFC and 660's and running out of fuel. Now I swapped that setup out for a GT30R+780's+FMIC. That should be another 80hp I am hoping.

I don't believe that either. I have a ported 14b and you can see my mods, but I raced a GS-t with an EVO 16 and DSM link and mods needed for it and from a dead stop I can get him by like 4 cars because he spins but from a roll, look out, he is gone on me.
