I have a 2g with a 6bolt engine swap and it has a CEL. When it gets past 4500k it makes a wierd sputtering noise so we checked and turns out its shcwing some misfire codes. I was told the only way to correct this is to get a 95 eprom ecu and dsm. True or false.....I need sum feedback......I wanna get this thing on the track already!

you can use a potentiometer to get rid of it, but Im not sure where to hook it up. ask SBRJoe he did it to his car.

Thanks thats some really good info.....but I still cant find that orange wire they are talking about.

Ok I did it and this is what happened:
There was no orange wire with a white stripe...but there was a orange one so I used it
There was an increase in power
But I still have the same misfire problem just not as bad now
CEL is still on
If anyone done this to thier car let me know what I'm doin wrong

I also wanna add that I DIDNT unhook the connector before I cut/soldered the wires to the potentiometer...does that make any difference?....That sh*t was stuck....

Did you make sure to use a 10k pot? Have you tried turning it one direction or the other to try and get it to idle/run better? I had this mod done to my car before I got DSMlink and it worked fine for me.

Disconnect the battery for a while to clear the CEL and see if it comes back.

What spark plugs are you using? Are they properly gapped? And you could try new spark plug wires - it couldn't hurt.

Yea i have the 10k pot...I'm try and disconnect the battery I have ngk plug wires. I'm turning it the right way because i notice if i turn it too much 1 way the idle gets real choppy. I'll keep you posted

I disconnected the battery and I think it worked! I drove around for 20 min and no cel. But i'm still getting bogging or hesitation in the upper rpm range. I'll make a seperate thread for that.

I think I did it correctly...right wire...got a little performance increase I'm praying I dont see that cel again..I drove it for like an hour so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Well I started the car up and the cel came back on....damn ! I did everything in the instructions...well except I didnt unplug the connector before I soldered the pot on, but outside of that everything was cake. What could I possibly be doing wrong, wish I had money for a dsmchip!

Oh. When doing the 6bolt swap, you switch 1 with 3 and 2 with 4. If this were not already done, your car wouldn't be running. So you do not need to do this. :thumb:

Also I was thinkin..should I swap plug wires 1&2 and 3&4?

Oh. When doing the 6bolt swap, you switch 1 with 3 and 2 with 4.

Because of the 6 bolt swap, you should have 1&4 swapped with 2&3. Order doesn't matter.

Yes, the car would still run, just like crap.
