I just recently bought a stock deck and tested it and it worked. BUT when I unplugged it and then installed and plugged it in again, there's no sound! The deck turns on but no sound. I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT I DID. However, I did notice that my antenna is stuck in the long position. It cant go back down, so I believe my antenna is not working correctly.

Could that be a problem? I am  and :banghead:

Can someone help me out, or had the same problem? Any ideas on whats going on or what to do?

Thanks for reading and helping.

Did you check the fuses for everything? Is your car a factory infinity sound system car? If so is the radio an infinity?

If so there is a black DIN connector that needs to be plugged in for the amp to turn on.

Yes the car came with an infinity system and yes the deck is a stock infinity system.

It just baffles me because it worked with music at first when i tested it. Then I unplugged it so i could properly put the system inside the din. Then when i turned the stereo on again, it powers on but no music.

Which fuse(s) do i check?

About the black DIN connector? wouldn't it be plugged in if the music went on at first?

Did i fry my amp? How?

Thanks for the help guys, appreciate it.

The fuses are all good. Im guessing its the amp? Any other ideas. Thanks again for the help guys.

Did you check for any damage to the connector or check to see the wires if they pulled out of the connector?

If you were plugging and unplugging with the battery still connected you could have popped a fuse. That would explain why it worked then it didn't. Also do you have the amp adapter plug that goes to RCA's on the head unit? If so do you have the RCA's on the mid/high's or sub-pre outs? With the stock head unit installed does it look like everything is functioning normal like radio stations change and volume indications go up/ down and no sound? Is there any noise, click, anything coming from the speakers? The factory amp can be a pain, and the stocker CD is OLD!

Where the DIN cable plugs into the amp under the seat sometimes comes loose. Is there a missing/faulty ground strap on the radio? The radio uses 3 fuses in the engine fusebox (#5,11,12) and one inside fusebox (#8) for antenna.

What do you mean ground strap. There was like a piece of electrical tape that fell off. Connectors and fuses are all good. Just the antenna is stuck in the upward position. It WORKED! Idk what happen. My killing myself with this stuff.

Radio works fine. Stations turn, just no sound. I am stuck!

Could it be the antenna? It's like stuck and makes noise when I ever I try to test the radio. I only found one fuse for the amp inside the car. It's a 15 for the amp. That's good. In the engine bay there is a 10 for the radio. That is also good. Should I check any place else?

If you are saying the radio looks like it is working, then.

It has to be your (AMP).

Check for power at the AMP Location, there are 2 wires with power.

Turn On the Switch and check for Power at the AMP.

If you don't have power, there Your fuse is not good, even if it looks good.

Or.

There is a bad wire from the fuse to the AMP.

Ok. It's either my amp or the piece of dodo fuse because I just unplugged the amp and it works. Thanks gentlemen.

I had a problem like this before (not with my dsm).

The amp fuses under the dash were good...but there was a fuse inside the actual amp that had gone bad. Not sure if these amps have fuses built into them though. May be worth checking out.

It sounds good witout the amp, but it also can sound better with it. So I think it's safe to say my amp is fried

With your antenna the metal part that slides up and down is connected to a long piece of plastic that has tiny teeth on it. When the voltage signal from the radio is sent the motor turns and the antenna that is connected to the plastic teeth goes up. You should have 2 antenna's btw, the one that goes up and down and another built into the rear window.
Anyway I bought the metal antenna part (called an "antenna mast")off eBay for $15 and installed it in about 15 minutes.

Search a couple more and find the one that is cheapest, ect...

Search this site and there is a TON of posts about the antenna mast and how to replace it.

On a completely different note, don't these stereos have anti-theft? Do you perhaps need a code or something to make it work after it's lost battery power? That's the theft system for the stereo. So if someone steals it, it won't work for them.

Just saying. I'm not sure because I took mine out almost immediately after getting the car.

Okay having the same problem with a 99 GSX I am working on, please don't tell me it is the amp, just swapped to a known working one out of a 2G GST. What else could it be.

What exactly does?.

You are saying, the same problem.

It means it turns ON, everything looks good but no sound?.

If it is that way, then Check if you have power to the AMP.

Check for power and check the Fuses of the AMP.

Did you put in the code or not? Won't work without, the Infinity is anti-theft

And I don't know where to get the code. It's either in your manual or call a dealer and ask them where it is.

No.

It is not on the Radio.

The only way to get it is, to call The Dealer for the Code.
But, you need to give them the serial Number from the Radio.
So., You need to remove the Radio to see the Code, which is label at the Radio (upper or lower Cover).

Dealer charged me 20$, Just for the Code.

I just reread, and You said in the manual, But it is not on the manual ether.

It's not the code, I know the code for the radio (which is free from the dealer with a quick call to them).

Of course it's not on the radio. That's like putting the combination to the safe on the safe. ROFL

But yeah, I was just guessing that it could be in the manual. If not, like I said, call the dealer. :)

WHICH WAS RIGHT, MY FRIEND. :D

OK, I'll let you know if I think of something.

Oh, hey, I guess I should stop trying to help if I don't read every single post. Sorry, guys. I have like 40 tabs open (here alone) and I'm reading them all. I need to cram everything into my head. Then I try to help people in a rush, which isn't cool (even though sometimes it works).

Have you tried another fuse? :)

it could be blown i blew an apline deck i had it turned on and everything just the speakers didnt work,,, connect a regular stereo and test it out it should work
