I have a 97 eclipse rs and i just put in a new radio. Radio works fine but i have no more dash lights. there was a wire on the radio harness labeled illumination but it said if you dont have that type of wire on your aftermarket radio harness to just tape it off. im pretty sure though that wire needs to be connected to something. any idea on how to fix would be awesome thanks.

You mean all the lights on the dash are out or just the radio lights? Usually the illumination wire is grounded (or to a rheostat to ground) to make the radio lights work.
The lights the the Guage cluster, the lights behind the ac control, the ring light around the cig lighter, and the light to show you the gears next to the shifter(it's a automatic). So basically all of the lights that are connected to the dimmer switch

Well first check your 15 amp Taillight relay fuse and if voltage there. If ok, you may have blown the dimmer switch (which on a 2g is actually a circuit board of components). You can try bypassing the dimmer switch by unplugging it and then grounding the harness side black-yellow wire which should make all the lights go on full brightness. If it doesn't, then you have some other issue.
