radiator support removal

When purchasing a new support i was told that the turbo models have some different setups then the non turbo so that may be why the welds are not matching up.

Torbo and n/t models are different because the crossmember bolt holes are on different sides. Everything is the same. Harbor freight sells aspot weld cutter for about $4. Works great too!

Don't mean to be a grave digger and revive this thread but I need to replace my rad support soon so I can open my hood again and was wondering if anyone knew how the hood release cable is supposed to be routed? I believe it's supposed to be run inside the fender and mine appears to be popped out since I can grab hold of the cable next to the driver side headlight assembly. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Yeah I've seen them at rockauto for pretty cheap. The only thing I have a question on is how to route the hood release cable. Are there clips inside the fender that holds it in place or what?

I'm fairly certain there are at least plastic clips that hold that cable in place; replacing them should be fairly trivial. If anything, just use the ones from your old support.

Would I be able to use a turbo model radiator support on my GS or are the supports different? What all would I need to change/modify to use a turbo one?

I don't know as though anyone has tried this, but it shouldn't be a problem. The radiators are obviously different, but I believe they're held in place using the same hardware.

Hmm the reason I ask is because my bro just scored a 97 GST for free and is using it for parts on his GSX build. He offered me the radiator support if I wanted it, but I'm not sure how well it will physically fit. I've read that the spot welds are in different locations, but haven't checked it out that thoroughly. I'd probably be better off just buying one online for $150 or so that's made for the GS unless anyone knows otherwise.
