Hi All,
I am about to replace my upper and lower radiator hoses, due to some minor leaking. I figure that I should flush the radiator while I am at it. I will probably try to replace the thermostat, also. I have ran a ton of searches on how to flush a radiator and I think I have a pretty good idea of what is involved. However, I am still confused about some things....

Most posts give the following info......run engine with flush product in radiator----->drain and fill with water----->run for a few minutes----->drain again and fill with 50/50 antifreeze.

Here are my questions; each time that you "Drain" the coolant, are you draining from the bottom of the radiator, or from the engine coolant drain plug? I would think that you need to drain from both places, just to ensure that you get all of the flush and crap out of there.

Where is the engine coolant drain plug on a 97 GSX?

I search but could not clarify this. Please help a rookie out! :rocks:

I just bought one from NAPA, they had to order it but it was there the next morning. $4.69
here are the part numbers : BK 6051362, $4.69, and the other : BK 6051361 which has no price listed, but i believe its more expensive, but the same nonetheless.

I'm pretty sure I have an extra if you want it. Shoot me like $2.00 for shipping and call it a day.

PM me if you want it.

The drain plug on my koyo is leaking, I originaly over tightened it. Which damaged it, so im looking for a replacement. But im haveing trouble locateing any vendor on google that sells koyo parts, suure the radiator is easy to find but just finding the drain plug isn't.

Alright well not to long ago i bought a Mishimoto Radiator and ever since i got it, i didn't like the design of the new draincock. Well as it turns out the draincock was causing a slow leak which caused my car to overheat. I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem with their Mishimoto radiator's draincock and if you did, what did you do to fix it. Did you replace it with the exact same style draincock or did you find a different style?

the thing is that i bought it off ebay so i dunno if Mishimoto would be the person i have to call, becuz i'm pretty sure the ebay seller isn't going to do anything about it.

Ahhhh..... Well it could be for the dealers only. I just bought one from extreme PSI and it had that so... i dunno. I was still maybe try? That was my idea. its possible that you are missing an o-ring that going in there that you could just replace.

ok i just got the same draincock that Defiant posted on post #24 . The metal one that screws in. Is there suppose to be an o-ring on it becuz the one i purchased from Autozone was basically the exact one that came with my Mishitmoto radiator, it's all metal with no o-ring. As posted before i tighten it up with pliers as tight as i could and it would leak still. When i tighten it with pliers and the t-handle it has just keeps spinning and won't tight anymore. I just rebuild my engine becuz of this damn Draincock so it would really help if it's just that i need to get a specific Type of draincock or is it just that the one the my radiator came with and the one i purchased was missing an o-ring. If someone has a pic of their draincock please post it with the screw loose so i see if it's missing a o-ring and if so about what size i should get. The DRAINCOCK i purchased was from the Company called DORMAN part #61104. It was in the HELP section at the parts store.
