Looking to get a set of Racing Seats. Making the brackets is no big deal so pretty much im looking for relatively comfortable, stylish racing seats. I had a set of the Summit Racing seats (black leather) which i really liked but these are cheaper and still look very promising. Let me know what you think - place your vote

I like number three the best but i'd like your opinion. Or you can say stay with summit racing seats or none of the above also works! thanks :rocks:

The summit seats (sum G1159)http://store.summitracing.com/defau...eywordSearch&DDS=1&N=115&target=egnsearch.asp

I think the RalliArt seats would look best, I mean they are the Mitsu tuner after all :) I hope you know those aren't REAL Nismo or RalliArt seats for that cheap. The problem I've come up with for cheap seats, is not that they don't look good, or they aren't comfortable. The problem is are they going to hold up to high pressure forces exerted on them when you're in an accident? If you pay $100 for a racing seat and you get hit in the ass at a redlight by a guy going 65mph, is your seat going to stay in one piece where it bolts to the frame rails, or where the seatbelts pass through it, or even the backing of the seat...or is it gonna shatter and mess you up pretty bad.

I'd take the measurements on those seats and compare them to your current seats, especially in regards to the part where your shoulders are and aftermarket seats usually flare out at. You don't want those big extensions keeping your door from closing just because you got a hell of a deal on some nice looking seats :)

I haven't heard much good about e-bay seats, however there are many things you can find on e-bay which are of good quality, the main complaint I have heard from owners of e-bay seats are that they are of low quality and have no support. Do a search and I am sure you will find threads on this exact subject.

Yea i saw that, but i'm not about to spend an arm and an ass on some new sparcos. I dont necessarily need the seats but it's a 100% step up from stock and the summit seats were comfortable and got many compliments. They were just a paint in the ass to recline and fab up brackets. Thanks for the reply

Gotta love the Buy it now for $76 and $140 shipping cost

Matt - Were you the one i bought that evo3 16g off of over the christmas break?

Why does everyone hate the stock seats except for me? For 200 dollars Id rather reupholster the seats than buy cheap ones.

I like the stock seats personally, but lately i have been looking for ways in lightning up the car and this is one of them.

I mean I dont mind aftermarket seats but buying cheap ones just doesnt make sense to me. If you are not willing to spend the money on good quality seats that look and feel great then why would you buy cheap seats when you could just put that money into your car. To me its just like getting a cheap paint job or something.
Mod cheap, mod twice.

Booster - Some people have met there goals in performance and are not looking to spend any more in that category. Mod cheap, mod twice is a phrase that is used alot of the time talking about performance parts or body kits (i guess). But seats are different.

Paying $1K for seats is rediculous in my opinion. Someones making a sick profit off that. My summits ($189 each) were a huge step up in looks and were comfortable as hell....but i cant give my opinion on the $500 per seat feel to compare it. I was happy and couldn't have asked for more. And with all the responses i'm starting to lean back towards the summits. Any other opinions on the seats i posted?

Keep stock seats, get carbon fiber hatch and hood.

Alot of times on ebay, if it has a high shipping cost, it's to make the bid price lower, but shipping more, thus making it look like you'll get it for cheaper but wont...

I got a single Sparco Sprint for 270 canadian.. than about another 250 for the bracket and sliders... not that bad (they are usually a little more) mine are non reclinable and not that comfy... but I didnt expect them to be.
(they have almost no padding, and you can feel that your in a bar cage)
but they feel VERY safe and snug. I trust them much more than my stock( my stock drivers seat weld broke..... thats why i only bought one and why i trust it more than stock)

Any ways I dont think you should go too cheap on seats because they may break (like my OEM seat) and that could be a MAJOR safety hazzard... but i doubt it happens very often.

does anyone know if there are restrictions for track use? I know helmets, harness, and a cage depending on the application, but what about the seats?

It may not be a good long term investment..

Thanks for any feedback.

If you want new seats, pay the 800-1200 for a nice set of Corbeau or Sparcos with good brackets. You don't buy cheap seats, thats what gets you killed when you hit something, and you and the seat go through the window.

I dont really see how seats are much different than a body kit. If anything they are more important. As for mod cheap mod twice I think that really has to do with anything on the car at all from shifter knobs to fmics. I have bought cheap stuff (seats included) and always regret it in the long run.

Ps- I never thought to use the starion seats. One more reason to go to pick n pull this weekend :D

does any body know if the evo 8 seats will fit?i don't know about anyone else but i am in love with the leather recaros out of those!!!

I've heard you can make them work, they just might be a little wide.

Also, if you want to make the car lighter, ebay seats are certainly not the way to go. They are heavy as all hell. I test fit a pair into my car once and they were super heavy.

Spend time making good brackets and you won't have to worry bout your seat going through the window. You also have harnesses that are bolted to the car so i don't think that's realistic.

Personally i think the Starion seats are :barf: but they are probably really comfy. Not so much a racing seat though.

I got tenzo R seats. I know the original seats fade real bad thats why I got mine covered in nice material. I only paid 250 for both though and then got them restitched. They a very comfortable seats. The only thing I dont like is that they are a little bit of a pain to get in and out of, but once your in, it's an awesome feeling.

One of my friends has those, they look nice.
There's a write up on the ralliart seats on this site using original brackets.

http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=176878

i think these are the best deal if i was ever to do this.I like the feel of the stockers and would probably reupholster before those aftermarket ones, but i shure wouldn't spend a grand on seats, even though i gotta admit, they are nice looking.

I really like the 3rd set. They look clean and willl look oem in the car. No words or fancy colors and what not. So it wont look cheesy or cheap at all.

If I had the 2G cloth interior with that elephant print I wold definitely consider getting those. also if i had a 1g with cloth interior. Even on my GSX now if it didnt have my super noisy leather power seat!

Yah, but it has happened before.

Horror story here

I used to drive a 1997 3000gt, and in it i had corbeau cr-1 racing seats with 3 point harnesses and sliding rails, i paid 1,200 with all said and done from 3sxracing.com a 3000gt/stealth specific site. About a year after i put the seats in the still felt fine the support was great, comfortable seats, no fading as of then, they saved about 50lbs all together, and they looked pretty good. Now for the bad news, august 8th 2005 i was rear ended by a soccer mom in an suv who was talking on the phone at about 45 mph, i was just sitting at a stoplight waiting for the green. Needless to say my air bags went off, frame was bent and the car was a mess, but my seats and harnesses were perfect. Nothing broke, nothing moved, the air bags never even hit my face i was lockedi n perfectly still. Those seats saved me from a good deal of pain. And guess what, 6 months later, a DSm, and i still use the same exact seats, tahts 1,200w as worth it to me. +1 point for the corbeau seats
