Racing Seats?

Ok as much as I would love to have a really nice brand name set. And while I can afford them it would pretty much sap my funds for the car. And put a halt to doing the other mods for a while.



Sooo I was wondering has anyone tried the Megan Racing seats from SBR? Or does anyone have any recommendations for more affordable seats that are still nice? Looking for something in a black/gray red/black or solid black adjustable seat that is light weight.

Cheap seats are never worth the cost. On my Netami racing seats the recline mechanism broke twice on the driver's side and once on the passenger's. My roomie bought a different brand of cheapie and had similar issues. The problem comes from them using cheap steel that is too soft and not machining the parts to mesh up properly. I'd ask the vendor if they have had any issues with the recline mechanisms and if they offer any kind of warranty on them. Mine came with a 1 year and at $150 each they were still grossly over priced for what I got. Go with name brand and you won't regret it.

Megan is local to me, and I'll occasionally drop by to pick up a part or two, now and then. Sat in one of their racing seats, and it seems pretty good... just sat in it, but it seemed like the lateral support was okay (better than the stockers by a long shot anyway!) and it was relatively comfy for my wide American ass. Seemed well built, and I'll probably end up buying a set (or at least a driver's seat) once I have the cash to blow on it.

Those seats are pretty good. My friend had those until he could afford his set of Bride Brix II.

A while back a read on DSMtalk.com about a person that bought an ebay seat (i do not believe it was a Megan brand seat) but it was in the same price range...

anyhow, The reclining mechanism went out WHILE he was driving and it caused him to wreck his car. the seat went straight back and he jerked his wheel.

Personally that story was enough to detour me from buying a "cheap seat"
for the drivers side anyway

Is there anything wrong with your stockers for the time being? If your stockers are ok I would suggest saving the money and buying quality. If you were just using a non-reclining seat you can get away on the cheap with something like the Summit Racing seat (what I have) but when you want a reclining seat the cheap parts give out as seen above. However, I can't speak for the Megan seats.

Well I was driving around the other day with my wife and noticed a guy on the side of the street selling some shit out of his car. I noticed a set of black seats that look just like the megan seats without the name, so I pulled over asked a few questions and said #### it .

$200 later I drive away with them. They feel fine and seem to work fine. However after reading the above I am thinking about not using the driver side cheap seat and getting something like I really wanted anyway for that side. Such as a Recaro, Sparco, or Bride.

Duno what I would do if I was rippin though corners and the seat went stright back.

You'd wish you had spent a couple hundred extra on some seats rather than the couple thousand extra for a new car.
