So i was thinkin if i should buy Racing seats or just have someone re upholster all my seats...and all i would have to pay for is material? just wondering what you guys think would be better?

I would go with new seats if the price is right. However, if you do, don't install the 4 or 5 point harness without some sort of bar behind the seats to support the harnesses. If you put them into the stock locations, the angle of the harness is soo far off, that if you were to get into an accident, they put enough downward force to actually crush your spine, causing major problems for you and/or your passenger. Just something to consider.

You could Actually mount a 4 point in the stock rear locations... theres a picture of some good mounting locations on Road Race engineering site ( If no one posts the link by tomorrow i will find it for you :thumb: )
On a side note, would a rear strut bar be safe enough? (I know it wont pass on a road course, but is it a safe position for regular driving?)

I'd go with aftermarket seats if I were you. If you can find them at a reasonalbe price, I think they are worth it. I bought mine used off a buddy of mine, they are great seats and fit perfectly. My old seats were pretty beat up and faded, so I swapped them out because it was cheaper then getting them re-done.

There is a key to understand here.

Some aftermarket seats are pieces of shit. I wouldn't even use them as desk chairs, much less in a car that I drive agressively. Not saying that there aren't some quality seats out there for cheap, but MOST of the ebay/cheapo/lets pretend it's a race seat when actually it is just a few pieces of badly welded mild steel and a seat cover over it.

BAD things happen when you have a crappy seat and get into an accident. I personally know a kid that put some shitty seat in his civic, got rear ended by a truck. The seat brackets broke so he "fell" backwards and then he hit a telephone pole and submarined into his foot well. I think he got away with only a few broken bones.

Needless to say, if you're going to do something that is safety critical, do it right.

Seat BRACKET broke. Not the seat it's self. There is a difference between the seat, and it's bracket.

No the rear strut bar is definitely not enough.

Definately sit in a seat before you buy it or at least jump in a car at a show or locals vehicles because going to a racing seat can be very uncomfortable.
I was given the opportunity for sponsored racing seats and even with all the hipe I sent them back after the workweek. I have MimoUSA Racing seats inmy Talon and they seem to be comfortable and still keep you tucked in.

i saw some nice cumffy ralliart seats i want to buy and the are a good material and quality and since i dont have backseats what so ever i was going to attach the harness to the stock rear seat location. My stock 1g seats are old and ugly and i plan on getting rid of them soon.

Are the ralliart products on ebay official ralliart... products?
Not a chance. If you look at RalliArt's Asian sites, their seats are on the magnitude of $1000's.
