Okay so the thread i made yesterday didn't have the right questions.. I have a 95 talon tsi awd, i need a new clutch.. Im going to get a racing clutch.. I dont plan to have alot of hp in the near future but would like to have supporting mods that will allow me to later on. Assuming i EVERNTUALY go all out.. What clutch should i get now? i mean realisticaly id never have more then 350-400 whp.. also, im friggin clueless on what parts i need. The different clutches i saw on the site didnt say how much hp they could each handle, at least from what i saw. Ive been told Ill need a new flywheel.. Basicaly Ill be taking the parts i purchase to my mechanic and he will be putting them on (he normaly doesnt work with performance parts so I hope it wont confuse him, he said he could do it.. just no warrenty from him).. Ive been told the flywheel i get has to correspond w/ the clutch i get, i dont know if this is true. So basicaly im looking for someone to tell me what i need to do.. What clutch, What flywheel, and if there is any other thing that should be done while that area is being worked on. Will my mechanic have to mickeymouse the parts to work, or will they fit perfectly out of the packaging? Also, anyone know a fairly priced place 2 buy the parts? if i think of anything else ill add it, thank you everyone.

ACT 2600 Street clutch -> 400hp easily and get their flywheel too. Good on the daily driving and your leg!

Good luck.

is there a specific flywheel for the 2600? or just an ACT flywheel... Im not sure how it all works, was just told that lightened flywheels are awesome ### u can rev faster... which sounds koo to me..

Yep a 2600 will be good for you, or you could get the 2900 that has more clamping force then the 2600 but the same pedal pressure as the 2100.
EDIT: No its not a 2600 specific fly,ACT and CFCD clutches need a step height on the fly of .609" thats why he suggested it, because our stock fly doesnt have this step height, so you would have to send it out to RRE and have them make the step height .609", also the stock fly is heavy, and the aftermarket ACT fly is like 8lbs, so rpm's will go quicker since there is less rotational mass from the cast fly.

And the act flywheel has the .609 so it fits perfectly? LOL i dun suppose u know a good site to shop at.. also, is the 2900 overkill? My main concern now is my mechanic being able to do the work.... My family has been going to the same place for about 25 years, the person is very trustworthy and has alot of businesss, but would you think he needs any special knowledge to install an aftermarket clutch or should he know whatsup :p.. Also, is there anything else i should have done to the car while the work is being done to the clutch/flywheel?

srry to double post, just went to a site and saw the Xact lightweight flywheel.. is that what i need? like that flywheel + act 2600 or 2900 will be all i need?

thank you so much for all your advice, i suppose the only thing left is weather or not my mechanic can handle the job.. i dont know of any performance shops I can trust nearby, ive heard horrible things about shops doing the work, and having people steel the cars later on when they are all built up.

do not get the 2900, the 2600 will be more than plenty, trust me. If you get 2900 it will be more pressure on the crank and it will cause your car to crankwalk easily. Btw, you can fit a 2600 with a stock flywheel, you dont have to upgrade but its recommendable so your only have to drop the transmission once.

ok will do, thanks alot.. Ill order today as soon as i get 1 thing figured out.. NO ONE has commented regarding me having my Non-performance oriented mechanic do the work

Its nothing out of the other world, its a clutch like any other, basically the material is tougher and its a fatter disk thans the stock one. Its just a "BEEFED UP" clutch. If anybody has done clutches before its no different.

thank you for all your help, ordering now.. gonna be a lil over 6 Bills... wonder how much the install will be.. :(

nononon.. 800 dollars is what he would charge for stock clutch, flywheel, and labor.. LOL, idunno how much the labor is alone

Yes and in your original post go back and change "EVERNTUALY" to eventually.

Depending on how many miles you have, I'd also have your mechanic change the clutch fork & pivot ball and also replace the clutch line with a stainless steel one from RRE.
Don't forget to order an OEM Throw Out Bearing, and get some quality tranny lube.

For some reason I figured you had around 100k on the clock.
Here is a link to RRE.http://www.roadraceengineering.com/ecldrivetrain.htm
Scroll down til you just pass the flywheels, and there you will see the Clutch Line for $20, and the Pivot Ball and Clutch Fork for $65.
There is an installation guide for the clutch line, so print that out for your mechanic.

Follow this link for your quality lubricants.
I'd get the BG Synchro Shift.

If I were you, I'd have the mechanic also change the lube in the Transfer Case, and rear differential as well.
Use Red Line Heavy weight Shock Proof Gear Lube
(X-fer case, rear diff).
The capacities are at the top of the page in that RRE link.
Here's a link to a Throw Out Bearing. http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=3750&
Don't forget to also buy the clip for the TOB found here.
