ok so heres the thing im looking to get into the raceing scene nothing illegal i want to do road races not drags or drifts it needs to be 1995 or older for emissions reasons. so i was wondering which dsm would be ideal for what i want
any help would be appreciated. thanks

1G would be cheaper but a 2G might handle better. There are more brake and suspension choices for a 2G. Look at the 2G that is on the home page up top of this site. I cant remeber his name but i know its a gst. Go and youtube it. Its pretty impressive.

so if i want handeling i want the 2g but the 1g would be cheaper do they both have about the same horse power and torque?

They are both not bad plat forms but they dont handle like a evo or a miata. They both have a lot of forward push into the corners but with some work they can handle good.

When the OP say 'race car' I think he means he doesn't want to stick with the stock platform. Thus you can make anything happen no matter what he chooses. It's not like he'll stay on stock suspension.

You can lower, adjust suspension juntions, upgrade wheels/rubber, tweek spring rates, adjust shock damper fto the 1g AND the 2g. No matter what you can do to a 1g you can do to a 2g, but the 2g still offers double wishbone in suspension. It is a different animal to Macpherson Strut type 1g suspension. See all the additional/different parts? Click. I don't know anyone who's completely converted a 1g to the 2g suspension. And frankly it's silly to do that when it's right there on a 2g which has practically the same engine upgrade options an a better ecu to work with.

If he plans on running a tube chassis, then I'm sure he wouldn't be on here asking questions such as 'which is better for road racing'.
