I've learned pretty much everything on how to work on my talon as my first car through here. From upgrading to a K&N air filter to rebuilding the entire motor and tuning with a palm pilot. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!!!

Today I sold my 95 TSI AWD, got some nice cash and now starts my journey of looking for a 97+ Eclipse (GSX/GST). wanna throw down 350-400HP. Just thought id let you know what my plan was, thanks guys!

But if you already had a awd dsm why sell it to buy another, It may be harder to find a clean 2nd gen awd now days?

buy a 1g for speed and a 2g for show....unless cash isnt a problem then buy a 2g for both . Once you start making power in a 2g the trasmission, especially awd, will be a very limiting factor...plus they're heavy.

I honestly hate my car. If i could swap all the parts off of mine into a 1g and traded even up i would do it.

The one I had needed a lot of work & really was a bad move in the first place. Id rather get a cleaner newer lower miles one. I also plan on moving to Florida (Sarasota) within the year and I know they are a lot ncier down there for the most part VS Michiagn due to weather & conditions. Plus I want black interior or I was looking at getting somethign esle, but DSMs come first

What? I've had a DSM for almost 8 years, and I guess there's a first time for reading anything. You need to prove any of that. Do you really think the weight differences are that much? And the 1g trans is superior in strength? Back up what you're saying.

Twicks69 (or whatever his sn is) can verify this. Look up how many full weight 1st gen's are in the 10s and 9s then look up gvr4 and 2g's. 2gs are weaker platforms over 1g's, dont ask me why, i know the transmissions are poop in 95+ cars and gvr4's but weight is definitely a limiting factor.

yeah I actualy have a very nice job i got promoted recently and am making some nice money. a friend I work with has a 99 GST and throws down 320FWHP and has hel us very nice. another hasa 99GSX with 660 AWHP and belive it or not has a decent ammount of stock parts on it and runs low 10s and hasnt had a problem with transmission...not head gaskets yes haha this thread should be cut off now though before a fight starts

My friend had a 1g with FpGreen and swapped it over to a 2g. He thinks it was noticeably faster with 1g. No track times to verify though. I believe 1gs are about 2-300lbs lighter.

Nice bike, I have an 07 YZF6R. I've been riding street bikes sence I was 19, with no accidents. But I'm a very cautious when riding!

A little tip, Don't ride in shorts....EVER! Its not safe.
I see you got a good jacket, GOOD. I recommend wearing it every time you get on the bike.

Just be safe, and watch your surroundings! Be cautious when coming to intersections, side streets and drive ways! Some times people will pull out in front of you, so if your not careful it could get nasty!

The thing that has kept me from going down is when I come up to the things I named, I tend to slow down and/or watch to see what the car sitting there is gonna do. You will see what I mean, trust me!

Yea this is old, but what the hell. The bike has been fun and I hear you about the safety issue. I ride like an old lady anyway, and in the past year and some I have only had about 5 or 6 close calls that got my heart really beating. I actually just renewed my permit and am getting the bike inspected this up comming week so I can get out there when it goes above 60.

I also bout a 97 Talon that will be finished with in the next two months to be ready for summer. This thing is really nice....I got the 99 black leather interior, 97 talon front with 99 eclipse skirts and rear bumper, High talon wing and I will be picking a color to paint in very soon as well...any suggestions?
The only mods are a custom short shifter and full urethane mounts, a suspension and wheels...I cant wait to get it on the road.
