It's an old thread but I am going to put my .02 in. I would personally stay away from Icon, not that they have bad protection, but I have had issues with stitching. I have an ARC jacket that the zipper ripped out and my Superduty gloves are starting to fall apart. I got them about 5 months ago, never downed. I went back to Alpine stars and while they might be a little pricey, they are worth it.
 
Went to the V8 dark side.

'06 Charger R/T. The guy I bought it from kept it in near-perfect condition. 34k on the odometer. The radio display even still had the plastic over it. Picked it up for $17,500; half of what it cost when it was brand new. Fully loaded, including the road & track package; only options it doesn't have is Onstar & Navigation, & I don't care about those. I'm not planning on really doing anything to it, performance-wise. Maybe an exhaust, some tint & some 20" black chrome SRT8 rims, but that's about it. Here's more pics.

It was fun having a DSM, I just really wanted to upgrade to something with a little more luxury & smoother ride & all that jazz. :rocks:

Why not keep the Eclipse?

I just got this V8 last week and I have no plans of getting rid of the Talon anytime soon!

I say keep the dsm also, I bought a 87 supra few months back and I'll tell you I miss my dsm, and plan on probably selling my supra for another dsm.
 
definitely needs some wheels (and more power)
 
Youll be back trust me. I got out of the DSM world 2 years ago, sold my 98 GSX. I shortly bought a 07 Charger SRT8 Super B, which is considered more top of the line than yours,the car was/is fun and all, but as time passed I missed my DSM even more. I picked up another Eclipse, and although my charger was darn quick and smooth, my Eclipse is still much faster and gets way more attention. WHat did I do? I decided to keep both, because I know selling one car for another is pretty stupid when you know youll be back. But congrats on the charger man, good choice.
 
If I want muscle, I'd rather get the early 70's era Charger.

I'll never get rid of my DSM for anything. I will buy other cars, but Still will have the DSM, Even if I'm never driving it. I'll just garage it and keep it maintained. After I'm done with everything I wanna do to the Talon, I wanna snatch up a 88 Pontiac Fiero GT 5Spd TTop and swap in a built 3800 Series 3 Supercharged V6, With a bigger blower. Thats my idea of muscle, small midget car with enough balls to kill almost any car around, and the screaming sound that puts chills down your spine. I always loved Turbo cars over anything... but now I been getting heavy into wanting something that whined for punishment, besides my girlfriend. That sound just gets me everytime I hear it.

the 1gs im not going to go into, the DL ran great until i gave it to my mom for work as a paper delivery car, i blame lack of maintenance. the 92 was just old and already beat up, my mom got sucked into buying it and i ended up paying for it and eventualy having to give her my DL LOL.

ANYHOW my 95 TSI...........

When i got the 95 TSi it had a small leak in the transfer case....

I took it to a shop, the shop supposedly fixed it, my car was then keyed after 9-11 (i worked at a party store owned by iraqi immigrants)

my car then sat at the body shop for about 3 months waiting for parts (after it got keyed i figured since i had to repaint i might as well get the body kit i wanted too)

by the time the car was finished i took it out on a date with a girl i was obsessed with. mid date her exbf shows up where we are at and starts bitching at her and basically kill-joys and i end up driving home alone pissed. well turns out while the car was sitting at the body shop the leak i thought was fixed, wasnt, and the car punched a softball sized hole thru my x-fercase.....

so the car sat for another 8 months while i saved up for the money to pay someone to fix it....

finally it got fixed, had it running for maybe 6 months and the damn turbo blew.

another 4 months , got a 14b , swapped it out, car ran sorta normal again, i thought something was wrong but i wasnt positive, next thing i know i lose almost all power while driving, look in my rear mirror and i have a total smoke-screen coming out my exhaust.

take the car back to my moms garage, start it up again and i have an engine knock....

(oh and before anyone points the finger, I used to change the fluids on this car every 2k miles like clockwork. I babied my 95 better than my dirtbike i had back then, and the bike was kept in my room if that gives you any kind of idea)

I have had this car since i think 2003, ive barely had it running the whole time ive owned it, and i still love this car to death.

I am now as i type this sitting in a tiny oil refinery in iraq trying to find an engine and a mechanic to bring my DSM back to life for when i come home on leave.....

Sometimes fate just deals you a crappy pair of cards, giving up just makes you a quitter like all the other people who say "F#@K this DSM! BLAH BLAH BLAH" and get out and go drive something stupid and boring....

Oh and i know this is sorta backtopic, but i noticed people talking about Bike protection.....

Im very satisfied with Joe Rocket, when i first was getting into stunting i looped a 60mph wheelie and came out with rashed legs , my entire upper body was fine after sliding for atleast 150-200ft down the freeway, the jacket did its job flawlessly, the built in pads ate the impact and i still use that jacket to this day (some sewing required LOL)
 
I just sold my 03 Redfire Cobra last weekend. Didnt want that car payment in case things go from bad to worse at my job with the shitty economy.

Picking up a 2gB Spyder shortly. Really want barcelona red pearl, but will ###### get a minden pearl or magenta grey pearl (like my old one). Auto or Manual doesnt matter to me, its going to be AWD swapped first order of business.
 
Ghost, sounds like you have had a run of some problems.
T-case might of been taking care by a recall.
IF you take your car to a shop. Please by god let it be a shop that specializes in DSMs, that is known by locals at least.
My first dsm didn't look the greatest and unless that key put a hole in the car I would of said #### it for a while.
Also switching out T-cases is easy you could just pick up a used one and switch it out.
 
Why not keep the Eclipse?

I would but being in the military I'd have to pay $800 every time I move since they'll only pay to have one car shipped. Plus I've had the GSX for almost 8 years; just ready for a change. Also I'd rather not spend ALL my money towards cars; if I kept the DSM I'd just want to keep putting money into it to make it faster. So yeah...it's getting sold! I love the Charger though..has luxury -and- performance.
 
You must miss the pull of your Eclipse. I know your R/T doesn't pull like that. I have to say I wouldn't mind an LS1 along with the Talon. GTOs and Chargers are just too heavy for my liking.
