quite noticable gains with MAFT

I recently added a upper ic pipe with 3" gm maf, 650cc


So basically I have a homedepot intake with a K&N stuck on the end with no mas inside.
Prior to this I had the stock 1g intake tube,stock mas,(honeycombs on), injectors, and 1c pipe.

Now for anyone looking into getting the gm maf, I forone can say it has been th best mod Ive done in some time.

rightnow im only running 11 psi and am basically untunned. I have the maft set to the injectors and the minor adjustments from the afc and the car feels much faster, deffinatly quicker spool aswell as much louder, easily enough to turn heads (love it).


just though I would write is up incase anyone needs help deciding wether ornot to get the maft

I actually has a local shop install it because they were making me a custom upper ic pipe. it is very easy also, only 1 wire to splice.

I got a T04B-H3

From the reading I did it seemed like a Hacked maf would be worth it since I'm rocking DSMLink, so I didn't go for the MAF since you still have to get the maft with dsmlink. If I really hate the late spool I'll probably do this first and look into a tubular manni.

If you've got the cash, gm maf/maft are the way to go. A hacked maf is going to let in unmetered air, and even with DSMLink's compensation for it, it is by no means 100% accurate. Get a maft, zero everything out.

Also, a tubular manifold will spool a turbo slower, but will have a higher topend. A log mani will spool faster, but sacrifice topend.

When it comes to cars and power, pick one:

Strong lowend, weak topend.
Weak lowend, strong topend.

Can't have both

The gm maf is a mass air flow sensor that measures air coming into the engine. It is a very common maf taken off gm vehicles and used in part with the translator (www.ramchargers.com) to create a rough air/fuel controller for our cars. The 3" or 3.5" gm mafs that can be used with the translator flow much more air than the stock maf. The translator also can be used to compensate for larger injectors down the line if needed.

yes you can vent the BOV with a GM maf

Car Hacks and Mods for Dummies is the perfect book for you. It's a great beginner's guide for how to properly modify your car and it covers every major mod group: Engines, suspension, interior, exterior, the do's and dont's, etc. It even has legal disclaimers to warn you if a mod you're about to perform will com in conflict with local/state/federal vehicle guidelines. Trust me, if you want to get a basic good understanding of how different modifications will work with your vehicle (or for any vehicle in general), this is the third most important book you should get (behind the Chilton's and Haynes' manuals).

I tried venting before the gm maf and it wasnt too too bad, but with the maf on it deffinatly runs more consistant.
