How do you know if an engine has had nitrous installed or used on it??:confused:
 
Somewhere on the intake there will be a bung where the nitrous jet was installed. More than likely the manifold, or the tb. I don't think you would be able to tell if they replaced that part.
 
oh ok.. i see cause i got my car like a month or two ago and under the hood it had all these stickers of different stuff, one of the stickers was Nitrous Express, so it got me thinking if it was ever used? i never asked the guy when i bought the car. didnt cross my mind.. so thats really the only way you can tell
 
Don't take those off, they add horsepower! No really, most people that put decals under the hood actually had those items in the car, unlike most who put them on the sides of the car. Nitrous isn't a bad thing for your engine as long as it was used properly, it just has a bad name from those who don't... and Paul Walker... Look around the car and see if the other stickers match up to actual parts. Look for any signs of a mounting bracket for the bottle in the trunk.
 
yeah i took off the center dash and carpet, and back seat and saw nothing like that.. but idk, just hope he didnt use NOS..
 
yeah most of the stickers did match up with some of the parts .. .
 
I've got a '90 Talon 4G63 N/T. It hasn't started, because of a bad ECU, and it being a '90, has made it even harder for me to find an ECU, soooooooo...

I recently got a '93 Eclipse 4G63 N/T ECU, which is the same everything on my car, at least I'd think so, but it's for a different year.

I tryed the ECU tonight, and it works, and it started the car, and I let it idle, and it didn't have any CELs or anything. Idle was high, but there is a warmup stage, and also, the RPM Gauge doesn't work, nor does the Gas Gauge. And that being the problem, I'm just gonna wire in a seperate RPM Gauge and Gas Gauge.

I've heard of the Pin Swaps if you use a '91-'94 ECU in a '90, but does that only count for Turbo's, or it also counts for 4G63 N/T's?

Also, the car sorta sputters, and I'm wondering what that is.

And if I don't swap the pins, what's the consequences to my car/ECU?

Also, I'm wondering if it'll pass smog with a different year ECU?

I've been on the hunt for a '90, and obviously a '90 would be best, but I've had no luck. I'm really desperate to get this car running, as I don't have a DD for work right now.. =/

Not to bust your chops but its a 420A (not a 4g63).

I don't see why it wouldn't pass smog tests.

As far as the sputtering it could be anything from fuel issues to the ECU you installed. How long has it been sitting?

No, Cory. 2.0L 1g N/T DSM's used the 4g63 engine.
 
No, if it is on the side where the exhaust is coming from, it will simply spool slowly as it will constantly be leaking exhaust. It will also throw off what your O₂ sensor is reading and screw with closed-loop fueling.

Ohh ok thanks., i have a boosting problem ,i have the boost cotroller set at the lowest posible setting and it boost 20+ psi . Should i change the gastegate for one with a 8psi spring . I dont know anything about this wastegate it came with the setup i picked up from a friend
 
I would change the wastegate to something that you know what size spring is in it so you know if your problem is else where

check your oil for signs of coolant. then have your coolant system checked for hydro carbons.

replace the wastegate for a stock one if its on a td05 turbo then use your BC in line.
 
Okay here is the deal. The 1ga I bought has bent valves. Instead of fixing them I went ahead and bought a head locally with the delta 272 cams and a trackenstein intake manifold with a punishment racing o2 housing with a tial 44mm wastegate. I'm thinking of going for the awd 14b no nitrous record as well as the nitrous record. Any idea what the 14b will max out at giving it has everything to make power and plenty of fuel so we can ramp up timing on e-85 to get the power out of it?

Also I'm sorry if posted this in the wrong sub forumn.
 
so I bought a 1997 Gst Eclipse about 3 weeks ago , i´ve been doing some research the past couple of weeks because i noticed it has a garret turbo , i decided to look into it and see if maybe it was a t28 or t25 , don´t know much about different garrett turbos so i decided to guide myself based on looks , i noticed it doesnt look to much like either of those turbos, now i KNOW the search button is on the top corner, like i´ve said i´d look into it. i hope someone can help me out with this, thanks just for bothering to read this.
