Just a need a quick answer...hopefully. I've done a boost leak test and I am leaking out of my Greddy Type-S BOV, and I just realized that the screw was way, way too far out. Will tightening the screw cause it stop leaking??? I am going out there to fiddle around right now, just wondering if I should expect anything other than a leak. The screw was maybe 5 or 6 threads deep into the BOV, now I screwed it in so that only five or six or showing.

its always good to be on the safe side but jeez your really taking it far. try the simple solution first and then come back to us if the problem remains. and if it comes down to it you might need to take your BOV apart. its not that hard to do and put back together. just keep pressure on the top so the springs onside dont shoot the top of it of and you lose pieces. and also do a search for the single spring mod / SSM.

so i will assume that you are venting to the atmosphere? well by making it tight you are putting more pressure on that spring so it would need more to open up. how is the car reacting? are you idleing funny? is your check engine light on? usually when you are leaking air like that especially out the bov your car acts funny.

no, I am not venting. A buddy of mine tried once, and I just laughed at his results. The car is not acting funny, it just seems slow. It runs the same times now as it did when it was stock, so I am guessing the boost leak has something to do with that and I want it to stop. I used RTV sealant on it, but it still leaks. I am hoping tightening the screw will help, but it is raining out and my all the spots in my garage are taken up. No CEL, and idle range is normal, just a tad below 1K, but sometimes it drops to 600. That was when it was cold though, doesn't seem to do that in the summer at all... Thanks for the help so far.

i was just chuckling to myself about the fact you made a thread about tightening a Greddy Type-S. Thats why i said its common to want to be careful about your car but it might have been a little over board. just tighten it up, do the leak test and get back to us and we'll help you from there.

ooh, gotcha.. I wasn't worried about tightening though. I was just wondering if having it too far out would cause it too leak, but I found the problem... The hose connecting to the top nipple was too loose, and I don't have one of those mini clamps to put on it, I can't think of the name... the clamps you need pliers to loosen, because they are very tight... I just have a little steel clamp on there, and its leaking some air past that still at 14 psi, but its a lot better then before. I am driving to hopefully get one of those clamps now. Maybe it will even be a quicker ride now that I have gained 6-7 psi or so without leaking. I also found another little leak at the throttle body I think, so I will need to work on getting that fixed. Thanks for the help, though, and sorry for being too cautious. :coy:
