Quick 2G auto radiator question

I have to change out my radiator on the 2g 1998 auto because of a broken neck and after removing the radiator I noticed that my radiator DOES NOT have the two tranny cooler ports on it. Were there some variations between the years and only certain autos had the tranny cooler going to the radiator? I am asking because the new radiator I bought DOES HAVE the two tranny cooler ports, and I am wondering if I should be looking for the two tranny cooler connections to make sure that it is even hooked up. Also I assume the tranny cooler is the little square intercooler looking thing in front of my condensor correct?

Mine only had the external cooler like yours. I have seen them with both tho.
