Quick 1g question

The 92 eclipse GS come with what motor? Cause I know they didn't make the 420a til 95 so what motor do the 1st gen GS come with? I'm having a hard time finding the answer in my search.

The 1g non turbo will come with either a 2.0 non turbo 4g63 or a non turbo 1.8 4g37.

The 1g Eclipse GS came with either a 1.8 SOHC engine (4g37) or a naturally aspirated 2.0 DOHC engine (4g63). The two are very easy to distinguish when looking at the valve cover. If your spark plug wires sit in a "valley" then it's DOHC. If they sit nearly flush it's a 1.8 SOHC engine.

So hypothetical I can buy a 92 GS with a 4g63 as a donor car & swap that into my 97 GS. & im guessing the 4g37 are less powerful than the 420a because I never here anything about it.

No you cannot swap a 4g63 into a 420 2g car. It is not a drop in motor. It would be expensive and require a very large amount of fabrication. The same as if you decided to bolt a 4g63 into a toyota or something. The chassis is completely setup different in a 2g NT and this has been covered 1000 times before.
