Had my brother go look at another 1g tsi awd today.It needs work
Run down 16g turbo 3" test pipe 3" inch to back boost, a/f gauges ..Maybe more not sure yet , as i haven't seen it..It has some issues i have not seen or read up on yet...
1st : Its awd but something has been pulled or is missing..so its fwd for the moment ..what is missing or pulled and why would they do this?
2nd: started then died started died , started rpms were held up by keeping foot on gas..After the test drive it idled fine
3rd: May be a 16g small or big, or an ebay knock off any numbers i can ask him for to tell and where are they ,..As i will have to direct him
Now i know i could of searched all this but time is not on my side thanks for under standing

O and there is a yellow light on the left side of the dash nothing in the middle what is that ?

if its yellow like a cage thats him not having coolant in his reservoir? which could be a bigger issue then just not having coolant in the reservoir. the awd to fwd question he probably took the transfer case out of the car and the rest back I am guessing. the car not wanting to start could be a number of things bad fuel pump, bad spark plugs. bad ignition. any number of things. as far as it being a 16g legit or not.

how much is the guy asking for the car, because sounds like he has messed with it a lot.

If it's an AWD then either it has a VC eliminator installed which should not be driven on, mainly used for dyno to switch it to FWD, or it had the transmission changed to a FWD. If neither of those 2 were done then the VC is shot which is in the transmission.

Idle issue could be a number of things, need to do a boost leak test to verify leaks are not the cause and then go to the sensors which work the idle.

A knock off 16g will generally say GT on it or some other wording.

The transfer case is still in it so if thats gone no big deal..
The guy did say it was low on coolant i just called him (hopfully thats all it is not worried about that)
If it is a true 16g i will take the car for sure ..
Also the car did start and would have stayed running with foot on the gas..Could be just bad gas or with the 16g turbo not enough fuel .As i have been reading..Since i have to wait till tommorow for the numbers off the turbo ...
Hes asking $500 for it ..i will be taking the parts off it and tossing them on my 93 ..Transmission , turbo , exhaust ..and put mine on this one and just resell it with no 1st or 2nd ..I should make my money back , and get the free upgrade parts

500 is not bad for parts. Just FYI you can have a huge turbo but use the same amount of gas for idling as a small turbo.
