ok guys i have done a good bit of research and i no for the most part what i am going to be doing. first with the turbo i only want about 15 to 20 psi, i think i will go with a 14b(want a quick spool) or shuld i go with a 16g. will get boost controller, and 560 injectors, for the fuel pump is a 190 ok or shuld i get a 255. im not going for huge numbers 300hp max, i would rather not have to do my own tunning with the fuel. only because I dont have a clue where to start with tunning. Is it kinda easy like something i can figure out.

Check out some of the members on the forum and see what kind of power they make and what kind of mods they have. but a 16 g with 560's and a wally 255 is a pretty sound set up . but if you can afford it go a little bigger injector like a 650 or 680 depending on what your tuning with. safc or maf translator will do either of those two injector sizes. just a thought

im running an evo III 16g setup with 560 injectors now with a walbro 190. i use to have a 255 but i need a fuel pressure regulator and i didnt have the money at the time and i maxed out my injectors, so i traded my 255 for a 190 and that works perfect for me. the 16g spools up fast and say if you wanted a little bit bigger turbo than the 14b that spools up almost just as fast, the 16g is perfect. atleast thats my personal opinion. :thumb:

sooo my opinion is 16g turbo, 190 fuel pump and 560 injectors or a little bit bigger if you wanted to but then if you go bigger then your getting into tuning and that can be a real pain sometimes.

The above info is good, don't brush off the above posts because they are full of good info. Before you do ANY MODIFICATIONS do maintenance first. I've seen countless times when people jump head first into mod'ing and then a timing belt snaps because it hadn't been changed for 90k miles. Theres a reason why some DSM's break weekly on factory horsepower and others hardly ever break and they've got 400+awhp, MAINTENANCE!

Heres the gist of what you'll need to reach your goals in your OP, they are numbered in the order I suggest you do them in from personal experience. Of course you should do further research in the brand of the parts you choose, etc. etc.
  1. Intake (RECIRCULATED)
  2. Catback exhaust
  3. Boost gauge
  4. Wideband o2 sensor/gauge and downpipe at the same time (you'll want to weld a bung in it for the WB o2 sensor)
  5. Boost controller
  6. Blow off valve
  7. FMIC kit
  8. Tuning software/logger (I suggest dsmlink no matter what your goals are)
  9. Stock Evo IX injectors (560cc)
  10. Stock Evo VIII fuel pump (190lph)
  11. Evo III 16g

gofer's post is pretty much right on track. Maintenance before modifying. :)

The 14b is a good turbo, though, and I think it's even a bit underrated by most people who just jump straight to a 16g variant. A 190lph pump is also a decent sized pump for the TD05 family turbos. It'll support 300hp and 20psi on those turbos.

A datalogger/DSMLink will get you further than most modifications you'll make however. Keeping up on your tune and making sure your engine isn't in danger of blowing up or running lean is the key to making 300hp and continuing to make 300hp reliably. :)

my maintenance is good im rebuilding a spare motor. a lil bigger cams maby a porting on exhaust. so how do i go about tunning my fuel. that is what i dont no. would like to learn that why i would like a pritty easy way to tune.

dsmlink would give you the most options for tuning and has alot of other things it can do besides tuning. You can also us a safc or if you go with a gm mas then you can use the mas translator to tune in your bigger injectors. If you go with a 255 walbro pump then it is recommended to upgrade your fuel pressure regulator as the bigger pump can over run the regulator and you will run rich at idle but I had one with the stock regulator and never really had a problem but every car is different. You can find alot of tuning equipment here for sale in the classifieds as well.
