Questions bout the 1st gen

Was helping the girlfriend shop for cars today and I came across a 1990 Talon TSI sitting on the back of this guys lot. Asked him about it and got the keys and started it up and it didn't sound too bad. Besides the right front tire being flat the car started quickly and wasnt idling to bad. Well he told me 300 and I could take it off the lot. Just a few questions I had for someone that has owned these before I buy this as a project. First off this car would be stricly a project. I have a modded 01 altima as my daily driver.
1. Is there any common issues or problems that I should look for in the car after I take it. Granted I know its only 300 for the car but people that have copped with certain issues on these cars could tell me what to look for better than that. Really thats all I really wanted to ask. I just want some suggestions as what to look for and what to check before I start modding the car. It is going to get a complete tune up and all the fluids will be flushed out before i do anything to it.

Gebral things you should be looking for in a car, such as acelration, any studering and such, but for 300 bucks who knows and thats a steal and a half, if your going to stasrt modding it the way it is I highly suggest a compersion test, fix oil leaks and such. Remaber that your motor is a strong as its weakest part.
