1st Gen VS 2nd Gen

So, all things considered equal... which really has more potential? For example, I know that the 1st gens weigh less, but do the 2nd gens have better aerodynamics? If you put an equal amount of money into these two different cars, which really would go faster?

hmmm well the 1gen has a 14b and 2nd gen has a t-25 as far as aerodynamics thats just not much of help and if you were to dump equal money with the same setups the 1gen would overcome its 2nd gen commrade

the 1gen have a better engine to being with it would win hands down.

better head
better rods

first gen has better internal and better top end with more lift from the cams,and to top it all off it has a better turbo,and they don't get crank walk,so i'd have to say the first gen.but they pay a horrible price to be that fast,just compare the body style's.

I was just about to post a topic similar to this.

Doesn't the 1g have a better block? 6 bolt I think.

Are 2g transmissions and rear-ends any better than 1st gens?

The 1g does come with a better turbo but most guys change that anyways.

2g is probably much better looking inside and out. If that matters. One reason I am leaning towards getting a 2g right now is the fact that a decent 2g is easier to find. 1g's in road worthy condition are getting scarce.

I had actually planned on getting a SRT4 but I may not. I may keep my camaro and get a 2d AWD. Not sure what I want to do yet.

Okay, that's kind of what I'm asking. Let's say for example, that both cars were given a great fully built motor and a great big turbo and other misc. pieces. Which is going to be faster in the end?

1g should be faster. Because it is alittle lighter. If you have both identical engines and drivetrains I figure they would run very close. 2g will just look better doing it.

In a way I like the looks of a 1g better. Just getting hard to find a good one.

if you read the rules you would know that this is bench racing. Your make a 2 cars that dont even exsist and asking a hypothetical question. Many people have already said the 1G are better. Why? didnt you read the thread better turbo, better head, better rods, lighter, better cams. What else do u want to know? The compression is lower in the 1G 7.8:1 to the 2G 8.5:1. Askin a question like if these 2 cars (that dont even exist) have the same mods which is better WTF if they have the same mod it would come down to driver....its common sense. The reason why the 2G has more horsepower stock is they raised the boost (on a smaller turbo) and higer compression. Many of these question can be answered go to DSM.org or Vfaqs.com
