Question about the Punishment Racing 02

I got my PR external 02 Sat. and I was inspecting it today and for those of you that have one I was wondering if this lip on the exhaust side is normal, or will it cause a restriction?

Do they come that way? If not, I shouldnt have to port it myself. I pad a pretty penny for it to have to pay and get it ported if they dont come this way. If they do come that way, and customers port them on there own then I will.

I just bought and installed one myself. Mine did not have that step in it, id send it back, i hear pr has really good customer service.

I'm not sure if they come with the step or not. I've seen some o2 housings come with the step and some ported, but I've never bought a pr brand new sorry.

Also if it was steped, wouldnt it be the same all the way around?

For a PR housing..I think it would be better quality than that..It's definatly bent on the lip there.

FYI buy a freakin dremel or air powered rotary tool, and port things yourself..Dsmers save every penny they have for more parts.

It should be free . Hopefully they will make it right.

I just picked up a no name mild steel o2 housing..And it looks mush better quality than that...

The rest of the o2 looks great, just that lip. I understand by a dremel, but I won't be porting anything.....and this one should be on them which means no money spent.

I actually just went and got my PR housing that I got about two weeks ago but haven't installed yet, and mine looks exactly the same! I just thought it was so it would work for the 2.5 or 3 inch downpipe.. but now I'm questioning it.. anyone else bought theirs new and have the same problem? I know PR is active in this site so.. maybe try finding them and ask or give them a call. I'm interested in there response though... their downpipe and housing is quality though!

Yes I brought it directly from PR. I've sent a pm and I'll give them a call 1st thing today when they open and report back. Maybe PR will chime in on the thread.

My Punishment racing O2 housing I bought 2 years ago has the step also, dremeled the step smooth the last turbo swap I did. Other then the step (which I thought was crappy for the money spent), the O2 housing has been perfect.

I haven't put mine on yet, but it should. Direct DSM flanged bolt on with the smaller version tial wastegate and its a very nice piece besides the step.

The bottom flange on our 02 housings have a 2 5/8" opening which we expand the 2 1/2" pipe up to fit. I can see how it would appear to be a step down but there is actually a slight step up in the inside diameter of the pipe where it meets the flange. Porting that lip down wont increase the id of the pipe itself or the amount of exhaust its able to flow but I agree visually it would look much cleaner.

If you want to ship it back to have the lip ported shoot us an email and we will take care of it for you.
