question about running ss fuel feed line from tank

I want to upgrade my fuel feed line from the tank to the fuel rail to -6 . I found this article about doing it http://www.stevetek.com/R-FuelSys.html but I have one question.

In the picture above, how does the aftermarket -6 flared fitting go onto the stock metric threaded fuel line coming off the tank lid? it seems like those fittings wouldn't go on together.
 
well i did this myself a few weeks ago and im going to say this becareful when taking the stock line of the pump. mine was all rusty and it cracked i ended up drilling it out and put a bulk head in where the line came out and then it fit with no issue. if i were you i would upgrade the pump while your there to and i would also order a gasket for the tank at the same time
 
I did that as well. they are kinda blury but you get the point.
