Question about compression test

Ok, i know you have to remove/unhook certain things to run a compression test while the engines in the vehicle but my question is can a compression test be done with the motor out of the car?

I plan on tearing down the motor but i just wanted to know if it was possible to run at test with it out the car before i do teh tear down.

Yes, you can. Obviously you need to have the head on. If there is no oil or hasn't been in awhile, you might want to find a way to lubricate things. If it is a new build and you have everything already lubricated, you should be fine. You can turn it over by hooking up the starter to a battery or just use either an impact wrench or a breaking bar on the crank pulley bolt.
