I have a ported and polished 1g head that i want to put on my 2g, i am looking for a list of parts that i will need to do the swap, and also want to know what parts from the 2g will be reused. Specific to installation on a 97-99 eclipse GST.

P.S. I have looked at the RRE tech tips and VFAQ, but seem to be confusing to me when referrencing to 95-96 since it is different.

These are the parts you need direct from the RRE web site:

Cylinder head, with a fresh valve job, might as well do some porting while you have the chance but it isn't necessary. Best to use a May/92 and up head but a 90-91 head will work too, even a 90-94 non turbo head. The May/92 and up head has better cooling passages running between the head and block.
Stock head gasket or HK$ head gasket and ARP head studs if you are trying to be the king.
Intake manifold and gasket, can be from any year 1G turbo, they are all the same
Throttle body and gaskets (2) (MUST be May/90 and newer, 4 hose fittings on the top, 3 straight and one angled)
Coil pack and bracket (MUST be May/90-newer)
The big water pipe on the front of the motor (MUST be May/90- newer)
The complete water neck assembly on the side of the motor (MUST be May/90- newer)
The "u" shape water line that goes under the turbo (any year 90-94)

The only things I didn't use from that list on my 95 we're the 1G coil pack(reused mine) and the u-shaped water line(my turbo is a dry housing).

I also used a Non-turbo front water pipe because my turbo is a dry housing so I didn't need the turbo water return inlet found on the turbo front water pipe. I also used the stock 2G turbo water return line coming out of the block for the return for the oil filter housing water line.

If you're doing on a 97, you don't need the 1G CAS, just reuse your 97. You'll have to tap your stock 2G intake cam if you don't use the 1G one and don't have a pretapped aftermarket intake cam.

The little tidbit on the RRE site about grinding the 1G head for the 2G intake cam gear cam sensor plate bolts does not apply unless doing the swap on a 95-96 and reusing the stock 95-96 cam sensor located on the timing belt side of the motor. They are referring to the bolts holding the CAS sensor plate bolted to the underside of the stock 2G intake cam gear.

Pretty straight forward swap.

Does that answer everything?

This is not an answer to what you are asking. Having said that I'll give you my opinion. Sell the 1g head. Then spend the money to port your 2nd gen head. Why? Well, without going into details because this has been discussed in depth here on the board, the 2nd gen head is better.

If i had the money to buy another 2g head (mine cant be resurfaced any more) and pay $900 for a rebuild and port job plus $350 for labor i would, but i dont. I have a 1g head that has already been ported and polished that i got at a very good price, a 1g TB that has been bored to 63mm and a 1g intake manifold, therefore i would only have to spend money on labor (~$400) and extra parts needed for the swap (~ $100).

Spending ~$500 is a lot better than spending ~$1500, dont you agree?
