Ok well Im installing the head onto the block. The head slides over the studs fine, this is a 6-bolt block with a 7-bolt head by the way. Ok now when i go to put on the nuts and washers 4 of them are hitting the springs! Remind you I just had my head built with ferrera components. I have no idea why this is happening. No one else has ever heard of my problem, it is really annoying. Any suggestions at this point would be helpful. Also stopping by would be to, to try and help out!

Thanks,

Tony

I just slapped my head on my block tonight. And I have always had 4-5 washers get stuck on the springs/retainers or w/e it isand the bottom of hte spring. Im not sure if this is supposed to happen or what, but usually I take a socket 14mm or so and an extension, and I use a rubber mallet to pop the washers below the obstruction.

BTW this happens on my 6bolt head/block

I was able to get all the washers down by setting them in place before putting the head over the studs, the issue is the damn nuts 4 of them hit the springs, the first two right in the middle and looking at the cam gear side the first right corner and far left corner .

has no one else seriously had this problem? Any ideas will be taken to thought :dsm:

It happens to everyone, its just how the head is designed. I have run into this issue with both stock valve components as well as my current valve components. As you said, all it takes is to set the washers in the head beforehand. Everything else goes in just fine.

Hey guys, it appears that tonster is saying that he has no problem with the normal washer conflict (he put them on first), his problem is in the nuts. They are apparently conflicting with the springs (which does sound strange). tonster, I can only wonder if your studs or your springs are somehow crooked or are your arps (I assume that they are arps) not screwed down enough. Look to see if you have thread showing all the way down to the top of your head. I don't know how the nuts would conflict with the the springs unless they are REALLY big nuts :thumb: , or are your springs not seated properly? A pic would help immensely. Also, keep in mind that this is holiday time so you may not get that quick a response depending on schedules etc.

I had to do the same a few times on my car, always place the washers on first before lowering the head down. It will save you a headache later on.
