ok, im looking for the exact weight difference between the 1st gen fwd's and the 2g fwd's.
this is going to be mostly a track car but also be BEARLY street legal so i can take it out and have a little fun every once in a while.

my question is, what kind of weight reduction can be done? what can be removed, and is it possible to get my 2g down to the weight of a 1st gen on a diet?

oh there are millions of little things you can pull off a 2g to lighten it up. My theory is to take off a bunch of lightweight objects to add up to some serious weight reduction. Remove the rear seats, carpeting, rear seatbelts, plastic interior panels, spare tire, bumper supports, cruise control, air conditioning, windshield washer bottle, speakers etc. Things you can swap out to make it lighter: wheels, hood (cf), seats (sparco or other), glass windows (lexan) etc. You should be able to save quite a bit of weight by removing these type of things. Once everything is apart just look around for random things to rip off. :rocks:

Another thing is to take out the sound-deadening material they put in the cabin, under the carpet. I've heard it's a bi*** to scrape off, but it gets rid of unnecessary weight and you can always put the carpet back over it to look stock again.

1g FWD - 2791 lbs.
Laser - 2745 lbs.

2g FWD - 2921 - 2998 lbs.
Eclipse Spyder - 3053 - 3142 lbs.

I'm assuming you mean the 4G63T cars, that's what I posted, the NT cars weight a little less than those numbers.
