I did a search on this and saw 2-3 threads on it... they were mainly talking about strictly race batteries.

I'm looking for a lighter battery then the stock OEM 2g battery.

I'm currently trying to give my car a diet, I saw I can cut 20 lbs or more w/ a smaller battery so this is what im doing next. I already have all the sound deadening material out, put in 1g cloth seats and took out my 2g leather power seats. Have a CF hood already. Rear and Front metal bumpers are gone! Going to take out back seat and seatbelt assembly this weekend.

This is my daily driver, I have a system but I keep the thump pretty low. So basically I CAN'T use a "strictly race" battery that weights only 11 lbs. But if I could find one that weights only about 20lbs and still meets OEM specs that would be great.

I have no clue what im talking about when it comes to amps... ect (battery specs)
So if someone could show me a lighter battery that meets the needs of a daily driver that would be great. Keep in mind I have a system !
(precision power 800wt amp, 1 - 12' kicker w/ pioneer stereo if that makes a difference on the power of the system)

Replace battery with lightweight Oddyssey style: 40 lbs stock - 14 lbs for oddyssey = 26 lbs saved

It says that in the "DSM Enthusiast Weight Loss Program"

But will it be ok for my setup???? If so then i have my answer...

I have plans to change mine out for an Oddysey come spring. For cold weather, you may want to keep the stocker and then change it out for racing season. Just for kicks, reference the CCA (cold cranking amps) and if they're close, it would be fine to use all year round. The only thing that may queer that is your system, but you could step up from the Oddysey and still gain some weight savings while being able to power all of your equipment.

Hope that helps,

Andy

Yea thanks, what model should i use?

I live in Houston, Tx... It doesnt get cold. It's still in the 80's right now !

you can go with an optima yellow top, it weighs about 10 lighter and is going to run your stereo just fine

If its those, there's no point in spending that much to save not even 10lbs...

LOL, you want lightweight but you have a system? does it have an amp, how many watts?

I think that if you keep your stereo off while you start your car you shouldnt have a problem, as it is the cold cranking amps that are significantly smaller on these batteries...

I have an Odyssey battery and it's good. :D
Lack of customer support sucks, so after a year of having my Odyssey battery, I'm getting an Optima.
Odyssey batteries can be fully discharged and recharged just fine.

Shouldn't everything be powered by the alternator after startup anyway? I'm thinking as long as you have decent power to crank you'll be fine.

I just want to give you guys my cup of tea...... I work at autzone like twice a week. Only reason why i started to work there was because of the Free Optima batteries, Free Mobile 1, cleaning supplies, mags, food.... (great 5 finger discount). To be honest, we get more returns on the optima batteries more than our ###-mart barnd duralast. They are very power batteries but they last just as long as an old 70 year old does in bed. So... they are good, but some down sides.

No Optima for me then... Thanks for the input.

They look too pricey for what i want anyways, they are only 10lbs lighter then stock.
