I know it is asking for a lot. But are there any batteries that are anywhere from extremely light weight to below average weight that would work well for a daily driven car? I want something lighter, but want it to be able to stand up to daily driving. Also, it would be nice if it didn't kill my wallet.

Going on a diet will help more than just finding a light weight battery. There are far better things to focus on than a light weight battery.

Hmm. Well I am 5'10 and 140, so gaining weight is more on my agenda. thanks for the offer though.

I know that there are better things to waste money on. But I need a new battery and if there is one that is lighter than your standard 100+ year old technology Lead-acid battery that costs a similar amount and saves weight, then I would like to look into it.

Jm fab offers a small battery relocation kit that includes the battery for around $245.00. I talked to them about purchaseing one and they said they are very reliable as long as you drive the car everyday. If it sets for more then two days you will have to jump it. Also if you live in a enviroment that has harsh winters you will have starting issues. Therefore I bought a Red Top Optima and relocated my battery to the trunk. I just cant trust a small battery with all the electronics on my car.

Guy I know in Frankfort, KY just put one on his car with a small battery relocater kit. He has been happy so far. It is on a 1995 talon tsi awd. Looks nice. He let the battery itself set in the cold for two days without being hooked up and car strarted right up.

bane3d - I saw what you posted before with that fat chick and ugly dog LOL.

I thought I was posting in the hangout on the guy who was asking for help with a sentence that could mean 2 things. After I posted, I saw it was on the wrong topic.

As for this topic. I think a battery is generally a 2-5 years purchase and it's not worth sacrificing a small amount of weight for something that may not be as reliable (or as good of a warranty). I'd rather buy a regular battery with a good warranty and good cold cranking amps and worry about saving weight in other places. If 10 - 20 lbs is really that much of a concern, I'd start looking at more permanent solutions and when I'm to the point where I can't go any lighter, then start looking at things like a light weight battery. I didn't see any mods under his profile so for all I know, he's starting out from scratch. Just seems kind of silly to waste money on weight reduction when go fast would help out much better if you are just starting out on your modding.
