Put a 23 spline centershaft where a 22 was?

I have 93 AWD 5-spd and the tranny is getting worse and worse. I traded some rims for a JDM Galant VR4 awd 5-spd trans but it has 22 spline centershaft for T-case and mine is a 23 spine. There are a bunch of gear/spline shops around my area and Iam wondering if I make up a 23 spline shaft and slam it into the JDM trans I can roll with a taller 1st and 5th gear. Is this doable? Will syncromesh fix a worn 2nd gear synco (and now it wont go into 1st((after doing the 3rd to 1st stopped at stoplight)) This is getting rediculous.

remove the output shaft from your trans and put it in the galant trans.

you will need to remove the top case of the trans remove the viscous coupler with a gear puller then the output shaft will pull out fom the bellhousing side. There is a small ball that retains the output shaft that pops into either one of the holes in the center diff be sure not to lose this when you remove the viscous coupling. Be sure to also put the ball back when you put the viscous coupling back on. Seal the case again and your done.

I rebuild a lot of transmissions. I dont have any first hand experience with the galant vr4 first gear being weaker but i have heard that it is.

Oh well, this thing doesnt see the strip anymore. Just a streeter with wicked top-end. Too old for 6500 RPM launches untill I start REALLY replacing stuff. I think an 08 Dodge Challenger will be sitting in my garage before that happens though...
