I see some of you have the PTT Twin Disc, I am having problems installing mine, my backing plate on the throwout bearing isnt matching up with the bearing with the PTT kit anyone else get this, also how does the larger slave cycliner install the bolt holes are wider than the stock one so they dont match. Anyone have install pics. This is the only thing keeping me from installing my new TRE tranny and getting my car running after 2 years of building and breaking. Thanks

I'm going to repeat something I've seen over the forums (gasp!), but at least it's a starting point for your search for your answer. I've always seen that a PTT twin disc always requires clearancing of the clutch fork, a clutch specific TOB, and an isuzu slave cylinder. Hope that helps.

I installed mine about 3 months ago, and had to tackle some of what you mentioned.

ill start with the clutch slave issue, plain and simple, you have to drill new hole in the slave, if i remember i moved the holes about 1/8-3/16 closer to the cylinder and it worked fine, obviously since you'll be doing this you will need new, longer bolts, and nuts to secure it.

Secondly, if you take the stock throwout bearing apart how the ptt instructions tell you to, it will work, you have to peel the far backing plate (the one with two dog ears on it) off, and use a shop press to put the new ppt bearing (the one that looks like a nitrous jet) together.

worst thing you might run into will be physically hanging the input shaft on the flywheel, lube it good, and get ready to be frustrated. It will go on eventually (very very tight fit for input shaft and flywheel) I ended up getting it started and using a few trans bolts to pull it together.

(use as a last resort and go slowly)

anyway, good luck.

I have the PTT TOB and upgraded slave cyclinder already came in the kit from SlowBoy. We already diassembled the TOB I had in the car and followed the instructions but my backing plate doesnt look like the one in the pics and doesnt fit secure on the collar of the PTT TOB, the hole in the plate is a lot larger than the collar, there is a gap. Maybe they sent me a 1g TOB? Or it is possible it may be an ACT release bearing which is what it looks like?

I can only help a little bit here as I ordered the parts and got everything ready for my mechanic, but did not do the install - but did talk to him a lot because I was worried about the specifics of this clutch.

The backing will go on to the PTT TOB as long as it's absolutely the OEM one. It also does not just pop on to the PTT - it will need to be pressed on with a press. Be careful not to bend anything and that it goes on straight. I know it doesn't seem like it will fit if you are just holding them up to each other.

Slave cylinder...Not sure - I bought a stock Trooper one and I'm having the ears machined and then having the holes drilled and tapped to match so I'm no help to you on that one - sorry.

As for clearancing the fork - you should not have to do that. We didn't. That is on the Quartermaster I believe.

Good luck!

I ordered and installed the slowboy kit also. I did not have any issues with the TOB. It installed exactly as the documentation from PTT outlined. I just finished the install, I will see if I still have the boxes or paperwork for the TOB so you can compare numbers.

I did not get the isuzu slave though.

the 1g tob should be very similar to the 2g one, it makes more sense that you have an aftermarket tob, best bet would be to either, a) buy a new one and destroy it or b) find someone that just did a clutch and used a new tob and get their old one.

Yeah I do believe I have an aftermarket bearing. I went to a local auto parts store and had them pull up an oem bearing and plate and it was different than mine it looks like the one shown on the install instructions from the PTT kit so i must have something else. Thanks for the responses.
